We have an opening for an creative, innovative, strategic Assistant Academic Designer (Project Status Worker) will work from the Columbus, Ohio office. Does this sound like you?
The Assistant Academic Designer for High School Science is a content and curriculum expert responsible and accountable for assembling high-quality content based on specific product requirements for a 9-12 Science program.
This is a project status position.
Critical Functions:
• Participate in the planning and development of content for highly interactive high school science instructional materials, delivered both in digital and print formats.
• Assist in the development of innovative digital learning environments that are attractive to teachers and students.
• Produce accurate, error-free, high-quality products that meet curriculum standards and that display appropriate content, reading level, grammar, and style.
• Prepare manuscript, ensuring accuracy, readability, and grade-appropriateness in accordance with project specifications.
• Follow approved workflows at all stages, and meet all intermediate and final schedules.
• Research trends, issues, content standards, and competitive products.
• Identify and suggest solutions for issues that arise during development.
• Attends weekly meeting with team members.
• Collaborate on cross-functional teams to ensure that market requirements, project schedules, and product goals are met.
• Correlate educational materials to national and state science standards.
• Communicate project requirements to authors, consultants, vendors, and freelance editors.
• Work in a Content Management System to assemble and produce educational content.
• Work on digital products with tasks such as metadata tagging, concept mapping, and digital editing.
Requirements
A successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor's degree in physics or physics education or equivalent work experience.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing, and grammar and a strong attention to detail.
• Effective organizational and time management skills; productive, efficient work habits and the ability to prioritize, multitask, and exhibit flexibility.
• The successful candidate must be able to work extensively in a team environment.
• The successful candidate must be organized, and detail- and deadline-oriented.
• Experience working with digital curriculum development and digital products.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
A successful candidate may have:
• Previous high school teaching experience.
• Experience with Content Management Systems.
• Experience in instructional design or educational technology for the high school curriculum.
• Ability to create and visualize animated and interactive content.
• Two or more years of work-related experience in education, educational publishing, or digital content development.
• Work-related experience with educational technology.
