Job Description
AOL is seeking a Manager to join our Global Strategy Development (GSD) team, a fast-paced and highly capable group, to provide strategic and tactical leadership and support to our global advertising sales and media business.
The GSD team is one of the most dynamic teams at AOL and influences a vast majority of major decisions made at AOL. They are responsible for the implementation and execution of strategic initiatives at AOL. Led by Carl Kalapesi, VP of GSD, this team works on the most important strategic initiatives at AOL supporting initiatives from the Chief Analytics Officer and Chief Executive Officer and other members of AOL’s leadership team.
This team is part of the AOL Analytics group, which powers AOL’s strategy, analytics and processes across advertising and content. We work on critical operational and strategic initiatives across AOL's Brand Group (including our Owned and Operated websites like Huffington Post, TechCrunch, Engadget, Moviefone, etc.), AOL Networks (Advertising.com, AOL On, etc.). The role will give you extraordinary exposure to the Executive Team, senior management, and a diversity of business areas. Success in this position should be expected to open doors within this meritocratic and results-driven company.
Specifically, the team’s objectives include:
•Supporting and evaluating high-impact strategic projects (e.g., new products, new markets)
•Driving and implementing AOL’s transformation (organization, processes, tools, best practices)
•Synthesizing, distilling and socializing the most relevant trends in media and its implications for our business
Responsibilities and expectations include the following:
•Thought leadership, business analysis and real-time execution on mission-critical initiatives alongside top management
•Project-based focus on advertising & sales operations content strategy
•Analytically-driven development and implementation of best-in-class capabilities and processes
•Tactical leadership to ensure focus, alignment and execution of high priority opportunities
•Ability to organize, motivate and lead more senior stakeholders from across the enterprise
•Development of business requirements and tracking of success with performance metrics
•Constant, clear communication of objectives, status, tactics and results to all stakeholders
Qualifications
•Exceptional, results-driven and focused individual, combining a quantitative outlook with the ability to lead and motivate capable professionals
•2+ years’ experience at a leading strategy consulting firm or internal corporate strategy and/or operations role, including a demonstrable track-record of success and/or promotion
•Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Excel power user
•Flexible, ability to deal with ambiguity and comfortable working in a fast paced, results oriented environment, and align the interests of multiple stakeholders
•Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
•Outstanding interpersonal & networking skills
•Thought leader with track record of identifying and implementing creative solutions
•Experience involving media, advertising, and sales preferred but not required
•BA/BS in a quantitative discipline with high GPA
•MBA from a leading school advantageous but not required
