• Leads the team to produce four issues annually of Quilts and More magazine, from issue concept to final production
• Supervises Assistant Editor for Quilts and More
• Oversees team responsible for production of two issues annually of Quilt Sampler magazine and two annual bookazines
• Work with Editorial Content Chief and Crafts Group on subjects of digital and mobile content as determined to support Meredith’s digital goals
• Works with Newsstand, advertising, and other departments as needed to support Quilts and More newsstand and advertising initiatives
• Keeps Editorial Content Chief informed on all aspects of the magazine’s progress
• Performs other duties as needed on other Crafts Groups products and initiatives

Plan and produce 4 issues of Quilts and More magazine and other issues as assigned. Includes planning issue content, developing issue themes and story concepts, and supervising or producing all main-edit features, departments, and A&E. Has direct responsibility for editorial content, including relevance of material, inspirational and activating qualities, factual accuracy, and visual appeal. Ensures that the magazine is completed according to budget, production schedule, and standards of quality established by the Editorial Content Chief. Works with freelance writers to obtain quality instructions.

Supervise Assistant Editor to ensure they produce materials of high editorial quality, have opportunities for growth, and understand Meredith’s policies and procedures.

Strategize, write, edit, and/or oversee co-created content for multiple platforms, including web, mobile, archive, and books to support Meredith’s goals.

Collaborate on other Crafts group content development as assigned.

Attend trade shows and make contacts needed to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the quilting industry. Work with the ad staff at trade shows, industry gatherings, on sales calls, and at roundtables and panels to develop relationships with advertisers.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements| All must be met to be considered.
Education:
B.A. degree or equivalent training or work experience.
Experience:
Minimum 4 years’ editorial experience in magazine or associated fields.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of writing, editing, production, copy fitting, desktop publishing, and other aspects of content development.
Solid understanding of creating compelling, informative, accurate how-to editorial.
Knowledge of quilting topics and experts, fabric manufacturers, instruction writing specific to quilting.
Works well with people; ability to articulate goals and responsibilities; ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Experience with InDesign, email, social media, and Excel.
