POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Industry Management team at Blackboard works across the organization to shape and drive the overall strategy for each market segment across the globe. As trusted advisors to the senior leadership team, we work with all stakeholders to formulate and help executive strategy to win in respective market segments. As a part of this team and Blackboard your work will help shape the company and its impact on the future of education.
The Analyst will play an integral role in the success of the group with the responsibility of supporting rigorous quantitative analysis, performing business and strategic analysis, and help with data modeling to support decision making with respect to pricing and industry strategy. Specifically, s/he will be responsible for:
• Lead / support data analysis in key areas (pricing, competition, third party research, analyst reports, market sizing, etc.)
• Gather and conduct data analysis, statistical and financial modeling to support formulation of pricing strategy for Blackboard's product and service offerings
• Evaluate industry, market and competitor trends to identify opportunities to optimize sales and profitability through pricing
• Analyze all pricing activities including discounts, allowances, programs, and contract price to develop recommendations that improve profitability and mix
• Prepare reporting and analytics for pricing to highlight key trends and future opportunities
• Analyze current and future pricing strategic initiatives and non-standard deals; acts as a key point of contact for such inquiries
• Under guidance, provides advise to Sales related to pricing, product configuration, and business terms to support the sales effort
• Provide ad-hoc support for data analysis and presentations
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
• Must have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including an advanced MS Excel skill set
• Strong analytical skills, technical and business acumen and the willingness and interest to perform detailed financial analytical work to drive corporate results
• Ability to quickly grasp complex issues and communicate technical data effectively with all levels of management, staff and stakeholders using MS Power Point
• Comfortable and eager to tackle ambiguous problems
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams exacting a strong sense of urgency in the management of various deliverables and deadlines and the ability to provide fast turn-around on important requests
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
PREFFERED SKILLS:
• Previous management consulting, pricing, or finance experience a plus
• Interest and / or previous experience in education industry a plus
