The primary focus of a Talent Buyer is to oversee the booking, negotiations, and coordination of productions for Touring Artists, Talent, and shows for Microsoft Theater. This individual is additionally responsible for overseeing settlements while at the same time building and maintaining relationships with people within the music industry.
Essential Duties:
• Responsible for buying talent for the venue. Research new music, coordinate with agents via phone and emails, and negotiate and submit offers for shows. After show is confirmed, develop a marketing budget and build a ticket plan.
• Build ticket plans and scale maps in collaboration with venue box office. Ensure the dissemination of confirmed event information.
• Build show offers and submit to the venue and agent for review and confirmation.
• Responsible for overseeing the settling of shows which includes gathering all invoices, issuing payments and making sure the artist and venue are all settled accordingly.
• Partner with the marketing, ticketing and promotional department to ensure a profitable and successful show.
• Scout for potential new clients, partners and projects such as artists, agents, independent promoters, and shows to increase company revenue, business, and reach the forecasted bottom line. Develop creative properties that can be grown into annual events to remain competitive in the market.-
• Create show or event budgets, monitor spending and make sure events stay within budget
Required Qualifications: (Job Knowledge, Skills, and Education):
1. A minimum education level of: Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year)
2. 5 years of related work experience
3. Knowledge of general accounting principles
4. General understanding of ticketing systems
5. Computer savvy and skilled in MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel); knowledge of social media platforms
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
7. Must have an outgoing personality with the ability to build and cultivate relationships
8. Ability to interpret and analyze complex documents such as budgets, agreements, artist riders, ticket audits, production logistical advance sheets, settlement documents, guest lists and ticket request forms for all events
9. Ability to work independently to perform job, as well as in a team environment
10. Must have established contacts and relationships in the music industry with major music agents, managers, artist and associated personnel
11. Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays
12. Previous experience in the music industry with demonstrated ability to assess current music trends
13. Previous experience supervisor, leading, and/or mentoring team and working with all levels of an organization
14. Must have understanding of local market to maximize event performance
15. Must be able to develop and execute creative marketing strategies for all shows within pre-determined budgets
16. Ability to execute duties in professional and confidential manner while maintaining a high level of independence
