A Little About Us
The goal of the business intelligence (aka “BI”) team is to help Yahoo’s video and display ad products team drive revenue by accurately assessing product performance, making better product investment decisions, and unblocking key revenue opportunities. We do that by performing ad hoc analyses for product and business teams, prototyping recurring reports to facilitate product investments, guiding users to existing reporting resources, and partnering with numerous teams across the company from business operations to engineering to sales.
A Lot About You
The right candidate should have a unique skill set combining technical ability, experience working with data, and strong communication skills. This person should be able to work effectively across teams and leverage a wide range of data sources to perform analysis and solve problems. This role also requires a thorough understanding of the business context surrounding Yahoo’s video and display ad products. Since this is an data-driven position, it requires working with data directly, empowering other teams to work with data, and communicating effectively using data.
Your Day
• Accurately assessing product performance: Ensure the performance of Yahoo’s video and display ad products is being properly measured by working across teams to improve our operational reporting and by monitoring data quality across our reporting products.
• Evaluating product investment decisions: Help the product team make better product investment decisions by providing data to inform business cases
• Educating and empowering internal teams: Guide users to existing reporting resources and identify and help prioritize new reporting needs for the product team
• Performing ad hoc analyses: Perform key ad hoc analyses for the product team as well as business users to drive revenue and make key business decisions
• Prototyping recurring reports: Prototype ad hoc reports recurring reports to drive short term revenue and support later productization / automation
• Infrastructure: Build new datasets and the infrastructure to support them in order to accomplish all of the above
You Must Have
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams
• Proficiency with basic scripting (preferably Python) and queries (preferably SQL)
• Self-starter mentality
• Fast learner with a curious and analytical mindset
• 2+ years of work focused on data analysis and insights
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Digital advertising industry experience is a plus
