Overview and Responsibilities
Viacom Media Networks Content Distribution department is responsible for driving revenue with new and existing digital distributors (e.g., Netflix, Hulu) and multichannel video distributors (e.g., Charter, Verizon) through the distribution of Viacom Media Networks and EPIX programming. The Company is seeking an SVP with exceptional demonstrated business acumen as well as deal negotiation experience in an innovative and fast paced environment. The SVP will report to the EVP, Sales and Business Development.
Responsibilities include:
• Lead Viacom’s relationship and dealings with a selection of key MVPD and digital accounts.
• Lead negotiations with distributors to secure distribution of Viacom’s programming and other key goals. Entails both being “first chair” on key negotiations as well as managing a multi-functional (eg, finance, strategy, legal) internal deal team.
• Source and structure new business, both with existing clients as well as new distributors.
• Develop and manage relationships at senior levels both internally and externally to advance the goals of driving revenue and building partnerships.
• Be a leading voice within the department and the company regarding overall distribution strategy and for individual deal/account strategy.
• Represent Viacom in the industry
• Manage a team of 6-10 people.
Basic Qualifications
• 15+ years of relevant work experience, in content distribution, either at a programmer or a distributor, or other deal oriented experience in technology, financial services, or consumer products.
• Deep understanding of the media business, including key players, business models, competitive forces, and strategic issues
• Track record of delivering tangible results, be it sales targets, deals closed, or other quantifiable achievements. Self-starter and/or strong hunger to transact.
• Advanced experience leading and closing complex deal negotiations in excess of several hundred millions of dollars.
• Comfortable structuring, interpreting and overseeing drafting of contracts.
• Proven executive level written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence others’ points of view and/or create consensus.
• Experience managing, coaching and developing a team
• Bachelor's degree required; JD or MBA preferred
