DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for the budgeting, forecasting and reporting of one or more imprints (business units). This is achieved by maintaining a series of departmental databases and related support schedules. This position will also be responsible for the preparation of acquisition and post publishing P&L's, review of the automated Daily Sales Report, forecasting author advances, and preparation of other adhoc financial analysis. Specific Responsibilities Include: forecasting the following for the annual budget and monthly updates for one or more publishing imprints (business units):
• Gross and net physical and electronic sales
• Variable expenses including edition cost, royalties, plant expense, advertising
• Subright forecasting
• Royalty write-offs
Maintain title by title frontlist (newly released book by book) database; Forecast carryover and backlist sales based on history and current trends; Work with associate publishers to review marketing expenditures; Editorial liaison responsible for all acquisition paperwork; Preparation of monthly P&L to be presented to Publisher;Work with accounting to ensure proper accruals have been booked during the monthly close; Review actual results and understand all significant variances vs the budget; Prepare title acquisition P&L's, post publishing P&L 's and royalty write-off P&L’s; Review the Daily Sales report and work with the IT group to solve any issues with automated reports; Continue to utilize external systems applications (TM1, COGNOS, etc.) to enhance current reporting and analytical abilities and make recommendations whenever necessary for improvements and corrections
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
College degree in finance or accounting. 1 to 3 years’ experience. Strong PC skills (Excel an MUST/Access a plus)
