The Chicago Tribune Media Group, a business unit of tronc (formerly Tribune Publishing) and one of the country's leading multimedia companies, is seeking a Human Resources (Talent Engagement) Manager with a proven track record and deep experience working with non-union and union environments. Also, this role will be responsible for talent acquisition for the areas that the role supports which are Manufacturing and Distribution and Suburban Editorial for the Chicago Tribune Media Group.

What You Will Do…
• Contribute to the business strategy by helping business leaders to identify, prioritize and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures and processes.
• Assist the leadership team to develop and implement labor relations strategies that are consistent with organizations initiatives, comply with legal requirements, and promote positive employee relations.
• Support line managers in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirements in line with the business strategy.
• Adjusting HR strategy to reflect changing business needs.
• Help the business unit manager to provide employees with development opportunities and ensure that they are able to meet current and future performance standards.
• Identify new opportunities where HR can add value to the business.
• Ensure a strong leadership and coaching culture permeates the organization.
• Partners with leaders to provide counsel during reorganizations, restructuring, and downsizing workforce efforts when necessary.
• Ability to use diagnostic and consultative organization design and development skills to assist in developing and identifying the next generation of leaders.
• Develop strategies to source, attract, recruit and select top tier talent against defined criteria for multiple disciplines.
• Develop an effective pipeline of key talent potentially available for immediate hire as succession planning needs dictate
• Conduct regular follow-up meetings with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation
• Drive and manage the candidate experience throughout the selection process including offer negotiation.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with hiring managers to create a partnership that yields success, predictable results and credibility
• Effectively coach hiring managers on interview and selection process.
• Set overarching recruiting strategy which includes partnering on conference /event attendance in partnership with hiring teams.
This Could be a Match if You Have…
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, labor law, or other related field and 10 plus years of experience.
• 5+ years of full lifecycle recruitment / talent acquisition experience, preferably in a fast paced Manufacturing and/or Editorial environment.
• Possess leadership ability, strong communication and management skills and work well with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Extensive knowledge of state and federal employment and labor laws , FMLA, ADA and current employee and labor relations practices is required.
• Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution, mediation facilitation and the dynamics of problem solving and negotiation.
• Ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive matters is required.
• Solid knowledge of how to leverage various sourcing tools.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to use independent judgment in prioritizing tasks to meet or exceed deadlines in an ambiguous, ever-changing environment.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to identify a steady stream of prospective talent in anticipation of future talent needs.
• Systems savvy; strong knowledge of applicant tracking systems (iCIMS a plus), MS Office Products and HRIS Systems (Workday preferred).
