Position Summary:
Discovery Eurosport has secured the rights from the International Olympic Committee to manage the distribution within Europe of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang from 9-25 February 2018. Discovery Eurosport is seeking to appoint an experienced Production Co-ordinator who will assist with co-ordinating the broadcast requirements of Discovery Eurosport and Sublicensees.The role will work to the Production Manager, Olympic Broadcast Operations.
Responsibilities:
1. In concert with the Production Manager establish ways of working closely with various teams including Bookings, Operations, Production, Digital and Engineering to ensure that requests for dedicated, shared or occasional-use hub services are clarified and facilitated.
2. Assist with operations, production and engineering requirements for all partially-outside-the-fence services such as remote studios, stand-up positions, fibre connectivity and work with Bookings and Engineering Departments on the production of venue planning sheets derived from Venue-at-a-Glance information.
3. As required by the Production Manager, liaise with local authorities and other bodies to secure, for example, all planning permissions, fire and building safety permits as necessary.
4. Contribute to the organisation of various productions including Pre-Games from single camera ENG shoots to Test Event coverage. This could include amongst other things the arrangement of filming permissions, where necessary, within the host country.
5. Liaise with Technical Bookings Consultant as required on the production of drawings for non-technical overlay.
6. In close co-operation with the Production Manager liaise with the Finance Department in the projection and capture of all relevant Olympics Operations Budget needs.
7. Work with the Operations Information Team on the dissemination of Production information to all interested and appropriate parties.
8. Provide support as necessary to the Operations Booking Team.
9. On the direction of the Production Manager assist with arrangements for the shipment of technical and non-technical equipment to site having regard for venue timelines, access, conditions of the Master Delivery Schedule (MDS) of the host broadcaster, etc.
10. Assist with the establishment of on site Production/Venue Management Team/Broadcast Information/Logistics Team who will oversee the venue operation throughout the load-in to load-out period.
11. Whilst this document is a comprehensive assessment of the role, the duties of the Production Co-ordinator may from time to time be amended as dictated by business.
12. Games-Time Responsibilities:-
• As a key member of the Production Manager’s team work in close contact on all arrangements including potentially liaison with OBS and POCOG Venue Management Teams as well as Discovery Eurosport and Sublicensee personnel appointed to work at Games venues and the International Broadcast Centre.
• Assist with the day-to-day responsibilities of the Production teams, ENG crews and Venue personnel.
• Compile and distribute as directed by the Production Manager various Booking Reports for OBS and POCOG facilities.
• Offer assistance as required with Discovery Eurosport and Sublicensee bookings for Venue facilities such as compound space, cabins, unilateral camera positions, mixed zones, ENG camera positions, commentary positions, announce positions, studios.
• If required help the Bookings Team in the distribution of Supplementary Access Devices.
• Working with the Production Manager liaise with members of Venue Teams to check and ensure that they have completed the relevant site inductions and are aware of Health & Safety requirements as applicable at their Venues.
• Assist the Production Manager with appropriate checks to ensure that the compilation of Venue Health & Safety documentation has been completed and recorded as necessary.
• Awareness and understanding of Discovery’s overall Business Continuity Plan in respect of the PyeongChang operation.
Requirements:
• Sound knowledge of IT programmes including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Smartsheets, Keynote.
• Strong organisational ability required with a keen eye for detail. Experience of working on complicated logistical operations with adherence to strict domestic and international deadlines.
• Up-to-date knowledge of the European broadcasting environment.
• Understanding of all aspects of the technical processes necessary to produce an international broadcast operation for multinational companies.
• Recent experience in the broadcast delivery of major international events would be an advantage.
• Ability to work harmoniously with all levels of staff and freelancers. Strong communication and problem-solving skills would be invaluable.
• Happy to work on own initiative as required.
