The Consumer Insights Senior Manager role is a key part of the Consumer Insights & Analytics team, a group who's mission is to provide actionable insights (behavioral and attitudinal) to the Product, Marketing & Editorial teams so they can better understand both current and prospective users and ultimately create amazing and engaging products that will lead to success for all of Yahoo!
A Lot About You
This critical role will be responsible for managing, creating and driving primary research efforts (surveys, focus groups, interviews, etc) for a number of critical Yahoo properties such as Sports, Mail & Search. This includes working closely with Marketing, Editorial & Product, as well as partnering with Analytics & Usability to set the research agenda, oversee primary consumer research and share those insights across the organization in a timely manner to help your key stakeholders meet their goals.
The role, to be based in Sunnyvale, requires someone with a boatload of energy and a track record of developing strong relationships; someone who can think strategically about the bigger picture (both for the projects you work on, the properties you support and the overall goals for the company), work effectively with cross-functional groups across an organization, have a strong understanding of different types of research methodologies (from diary studies to satisfaction work and all things in-between), and lead the creation of consumer focused research projects committed to creating amazing and engaging products! This role will report into the Senior Director of the team.
Your Day
Demonstrate holistic thinking, strategic agility, relationship building skills and leadership within all levels of the organization that touch the key properties you support, specifically focused on Mail, Messenger, Search and Sports
Act as the "voice of the consumer" for your key internal clients by driving the consumer insights plan to address business objectives and ensure all research is ultimately telling a cohesive and actionable story
• Oversee and execute primary research, including working closely with external vendors to manage research design and methodology (knowledge of multiple methodologies is a must!), analysis plan and reporting deliverables
• Provide consumer insight leadership by working closely with other "insights" teams across the org to help tell one story, whether that's partnering with our own Consumer Insights and Analytics team, Product Analytics, User Experience Research or the Customer Service organization
• Communicate consumer insights in a clear and concise manner, both through written and verbal communication
You Must Have
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Psychology, English, Marketing Research or related field required
7+ years of relevant experience, preferably with a branded, consumer facing company
Demonstrated success in leveraging consumer insights to drive business results
Must be able to develop objective point-of-view, be seen as strategic thought leader on team, and build constructive rapport with internal clients and outside research suppliers
Excellent planning and project management skills
Strong knowledge of marketing and market research fundamentals including experimental design, and statistics
A highly motivated leader, eager to learn, with the ability to devise an effective solution in unstructured situations
