Position Summary
Hands-on leader of one or more warehouse department(s) that actively works with department manager and team leaders to coordinate daily employee activities and workload Leads the assigned areas to ensure maximum productivity, attendance, quality, morale, and development of team members Collaborates closely with peers to reassign needed or underutilized resources to accommodate fluctuating workload Collaborates closely with department management to ensure continued process improvement and continuity Uses strong analytical skills to identify process improvement opportunities, and make informed decisions about operational changes.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and overall product quality.
• Establishes or adjusts work schedules and procedures to meet production demands.
• Facilitates safety training, accident preparedness, and emphasizes safe practices throughout the facility. Must know evacuation plan requirements.
• Actively recognize and pursue opportunities to adapt and improve upon current procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity within the facility.
• Regularly communicates performance expectations and compliance to team members, including communicates poor performance in a constructive manner to support corrective action.
• Adheres to and enforces company rules and regulations.
Skills/Competencies Required:
• Management skills are required with particular emphasis on leadership, problem solving, motivation, communication, and planning.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills allowing for the resolution of complex problems, and the improvement of operational processes
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required in order to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel, outside vendors, and clients
• Must have demonstrated history of good work habits including attendance, quality, production, documentation, good judgment, and decision making
• Ability to embrace change and work as a change agent
• Broad experience with Microsoft Office systems (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access), and working knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) including LogPro preferred
• Must be available to work extended department hours due to business needs including weekends.
Preferred:
• Background/experience in manufacturing processes desired
Physical Requirements:
• Physical ability to access all areas of the warehouse
• Must be able to lift/move/carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Education & Experience:
• College degree is desired or 5 years of warehouse experience
• 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a large automated distribution center.
