Yahoo’s Law Enforcement, Security, and Safety Team is part of the Yahoo Legal Department. The team is responsible for all aspects of Law Enforcement Response, the formulation and enforcement of site abuse and safety policies, and advising on data security matters. Our work is most often high-volume and fast-paced, but we do it while having fun with supportive and friendly teammates.
A Lot About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic Policy Analyst to support the Law Enforcement, Security, and Safety Team in enhancing our practices and the overall health of the Yahoo community. A candidate must be motivated, highly-organized, and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and exceptional partnering skills. Additionally, it is important that he/she have a demonstrated history of excelling in a role similar or complementary to this role, which includes the following primary responsibilities:
• Undertake special projects and support Trust & Safety program initiatives, under the direction of the Trust & Safety Sr. Policy Manager
• Actively collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate efforts for such initiatives
• Work with Trust and Safety, Law Enforcement, and Security teams to improve public-facing content on Yahoo policies, practices, and advice, e.g. Transparency Report, Safety sites, and Community Guidelines
• Work with confidential and highly sensitive abuse complaints, including reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
• Identify process and policy improvements and make progressive suggestions for change
• Analyze and accurately assess a variety of requests from law enforcement authorities and governments relating to user information and user-generated content
• Clearly respond to process and policy questions from law enforcement and government agencies, both in writing and over the phone
• Identify and escalate high-priority issues as appropriate
You Must Have
• BA/BS degree
• 2+ years experience in an equivalent or similar role
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A strong interest in and experience with technology and making online experiences safe and secure
• Strong analytical skills including the ability to quickly identify trends and patterns
• Ability to work independently, with moderate guidance
• Ability to stay calm under pressure; comfortable in high-stress situations
