The Manager, Global Partnerships & Business Development for News and Finance will be responsible for developing and executing Yahoo's News and Finance partnerships, with a focus on growing the business and evolving our product offerings, finding new revenue opportunities and optimizing current revenue streams across all of Yahoo’s digital properties and distribution partners. This individual will provide support to the Business Development Team and will evaluate prospective partners to optimize online and mobile experiences with a primary focus on driving revenue and traffic.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Yahoo Partnerships team and with the relevant internal departments (Editorial, Product, Ad Sales, Finance, Legal, International, etc.) to identify, evaluate and develop new business and product initiatives that help drive audience, revenue and brand goals for Yahoo News and Yahoo Finance
• Manage and expand key partnerships and work closely with various functional groups (eg, editorial, product, marketing, ad sales) to launch new partnerships, products and initiatives that drive revenue
• Create analytical/financial models as appropriate to support business development proposals, specifically partnership valuations
• Provide regular traffic and revenue reporting on the Yahoo Finance and Yahoo News verticals in order to identify areas of opportunity
• Liaise with Sales, Editorial and Product in order to become knowledgeable regarding Yahoo’s offerings to give demonstrations of new products (ie Gemini, Brightroll, etc) to partners
• Remain proficient and knowledgeable in traditional media and cutting-edge digital products and services and give presentations to internal and external parties regarding the latest, specifically as it relates to News and Finance
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with external partners and across internal groups to keep all parties informed throughout the entire lifecycle of a deal
• Manages multiple, key complex projects simultaneously
Requirements
• 5+ years of extensive business development experience; media and/or technology environments preferred
• Solid understanding of traditional and new media, video, social, mobile and associated business models
• Passionate and knowledgeable about digital and willing to travel occasionally
• Enjoy working with multiple internal groups and leading new business development initiatives.
• Experience working successfully with external partners and collaborating across internal departments
• Excellent strategic and creative thinking with an emphasis on identifying and evaluating new opportunities in a dynamic media/technology marketplace
• Strong business and financial acumen; demonstrated quantitative/analytical experience; excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple, time sensitive projects
• Ability to facilitate group sessions with cross-functional teams, form positive relationships and build consensus.
• Entrepreneurially minded and highly proactive self-starter
• Master’s in Business Administration or JD degree preferred
