Director of Digital Sales
The Baltimore Sun Media Group, Baltimore’s leading media company, is seeking an experienced media sales manager to lead our Digital team. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated organized leader who is self-reliant and possesses the demonstrated ability to positively and effectively lead senior level media sales professionals.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for leading digital sales, local digital ad operations, fostering growth of BSMG’s interactive/digital brands and managing sales, product development, fulfillment, workflow, and marketing.
• Meet and exceed digital revenue goals and EBIDTA targets with accountability for managing financial performance for interactive sales and digital ad operations.
• Participate in the planning process to develop and implement innovative strategies, operational plans, policies, projections and budgets for digital sales.
• Oversee weekly, monthly & annual forecasting for the Digital team.
• Develop sales strategies for all digital products including locally developed and Tribune Interactive products.
• Manage Digital Sales and Digital Ad Operations including Managers and their direct reports.
• Collaborate with and support the advertising sales division with the objective of developing integrated digital solutions to drive improved revenue performance for each sales channel.
• Conduct ongoing analysis to measure and manage sales performance against market developments and corporate objectives.
• Review, enhance or change digital products and collateral as required
• Support sales efforts in field by guiding, coaching and providing constructive feedback to improve sales skills, customer engagement and performance versus goal.
• Foster a climate that motivates direct reports and encourages professional growth, innovation and creative thinking.
• Consistently review account and sales professional’s performance and objectives. Ensure corrective action is taken to meet financial goals.
Qualifications:
• College degree in Marketing or Communications or equivalent related experience in the publishing industry, other media or advertising agencies.
• Requires 5-7 years of experience in Advertising Sales or related field
• Requires 5 years of sales management experience
• Dedicated individual committed to impacting and growing revenue with a proven track record in achieving goal and driving results.
• Proven track record in leading and guiding advertising sales teams in a rapidly changing work environment with a commitment to company, team and individual success.
• Ability to establish and nurture cohesive partnerships with the advertising division, marketing, editorial, corporate affiliates and customers.
• Requires strong communication, negotiating and problem solving skills.
• Proven track record of working well under pressure and thriving in an innovative, fast paced organization.
