TEN: The Enthusiast Network is seeking a full-time Senior Director – Original Programmingfor the El Segundo, CA office.

Position Description
The Senior Director – Original Programming (full-time, salaried, regular) is responsible for shooting and editing compelling automotive video content for the Motor Trend YouTube channel & Motor Trend OnDemand, as well as other TEN video outlets (web, broadcast, etc). Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Directing and shooting polished, cutting-edge, scripted short-form and long-form editorial, advertorial, and advertising video content.
• Collaborating with on-camera hosts, on and off the field.
• Creating an outline and production plan for each episode.
• Identifying and developing buzz-worthy video opportunities in conjunction with the editorial staff of TEN's automotive and enthusiast brands (Motor Trend, Hot Rod, Super Street, Four Wheeler, etc).
• Working with Post Production to oversee edit through post process.
• Working with Colorist and Sound Mixer to maintain a quality video.
• Editing, scoring and color correcting editorial, advertorial, and advertising videos using Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve.
• Ensuring technical and narrative accuracy of all video produced.
• Learning and mastering video content management system tools (CatDV, Cache-A).
• Working with Creative Director to ideate and develop new incremental programming.
• Working with Creative Director to troubleshoot and improve existing productions to be more efficient and up to creative standards.
• Assist on Custom Content Productions when available.
• Working with and training new staff on best practices, department workflow and techniques.
• Willing to assist in department wide operations.
Ideal Candidate:
• The ideal candidate will have an excellent grasp on how to direct and shoot reality style shows. They must be able to move fast and create a storyline as the shoot progresses. They will have an interest in cars and enjoy long shoot days.
• The ideal Candidate will be excellent at ENG style of production and have a keen ability to navigate automotive builds – covering them from both a technical stand point and an engaging entertainment stand point. They will also be able to create an exciting roadtrip journey with all the joys and failures that come along with any roadtrip made in an old car.
Supervisory Responsibility:
• This position may include supervising one or more employees where applicable.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelors Degree required, preferably in video-based or related discipline.
• 2-5 years previous experience in video/television production, or equivalent education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Familiarity with Avid Media Composer suite
• Extensive experience with high end video camera operation
• Sony FS7 and FS700
• Canon C100 and C300
• Canon DLSR
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work quickly and meet tight deadlines on tight budgets
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with little or no direction
• Must possess excellent communication skills, and direct a wide array of on-camera talent with varying degrees of experience
• Must have experience setting up in-house and on-location video shoots including lighting, shot composition and audio recording
• Baseline understanding, interest, or experience in the automotive industry a big plus.
Physical Requirements:
• The ability to sit for prolonged period of time and view computer screen.
Equipment/Software Used:
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience with POV cameras (GoPro), suction mounts, jib arms (Kessler Crane) and portable dollies (Glidetrack) and Ronin a plus
• Canon C300, Canon C100, Sony PMW 200.
• Basic and thorough knowledge of sound equipment.
• Experience with Adobe suite of tools (Photoshop, After Effects, etc) a plus
• Familiarity with Avid ISIS server environment a plus
• Familiarity with CatDV asset management software a plus)
Work Environment:
• Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions.
• Some travel required; including international.
• Work is performed in an office environment that is well lit and ventilated.
