Cumulus- Washington, DC is on the lookout for an exceptional Sales Manager with leadership experience to drive the future of local media sales for our DC cluster which includes WMAL and WRQX, two iconic radio stations in the market.

Focus
• Lead a team of account executives through effort to diversify broadcast sales portfolio and penetrate vital business categories
• Lead the process of implementing our resources and build a culture based on new business development
• Drive local revenue with local direct accounts and with local agencies.
• Appreciation for systems, performance measurement, training/employee development, and a results-oriented leadership approach
• Identify high-performance sales talent to ensure continued growth for employees and clients
Ideal Background and Competency
• Current line management of sales organization or recently-promoted senior sales leaders.
• Heavily grounded in out-bound sales activity
• Demonstrated “account management” skills will be secondary to demonstrated expertise in new business development
• Formulate a winning sales strategy
• Communicate insightful and prescriptive coaching
• Understand which essential management activities move the performance needle
• Confidence to say “no” to the nonsense and busy work in order to free up room in your day/week/month to focus on the few high-value activities that truly make a difference
• Challenge sellers with opportunities and nurture talent through inspiring leadership
• Collaborate with sellers to offer solutions and clarity
• Recognize performance while holding team to high expectations
• Ability to cultivate long lasting customer relationships with mutual residual benefit
• Responsible for strategic account planning and basic understanding of financial statements
• Acute understanding of lead generation, CRM/SFA and account management
• Fosters continuing education and honing of skills
• Possess creative spark and business acumen
• Strong understanding of digital media and the latest industry trends
