Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) is a leading creator and distributor of entertainment products, services and technology. Our global operations encompass motion picture production and distribution, television production, programming and syndication, home video acquisitions and distribution, operation of studio facilities, development of new entertainment technologies and distribution of filmed entertainment in over 70 countries.
The Research Analyst, part of the International Research team, will support ad-hoc and ongoing research projects across Sony Pictures Television (SPT) three lines of business, International Distribution, Production and Networks. Some responsibilities include: providing timely ratings analysis on the performance of SPT and competitor product in the U.S. and around the world, as well as a broad range of market intelligence on the global television industry utilizing secondary resources that will include internet, multiple research data software, industry reports, etc.
Responsibilities
• Maintain regular product reports, including pilot report and key series performance trackers for SPT products and competitors
• Provide ad-hoc ratings analysis to support international distribution, networks and production
• Help develop and write sales presentations and TV ratings analysis reports on key product
• Help analyze the global performance of SPT’s channel brands
• Gather and disseminate intelligence on global television business and consumer trends
Experience
• Must have experience with TV ratings (minimum 1 to 3 years)
• Research experience (1 to 3 years) in a television or media environment preferred
Education
• BA/BS degree
Skills
• Must be numerate and have ability to analyze audience research data
• Skilled with large data sets
• Provide meaningful & concise ratings analysis
• Strong writing skills with strong attention to detail a must
• Experience with Nielsen MediaView or Galaxy Explorer, NPower, EMSTV or similar TV ratings software systems; previous experience with TechEdge and Infosys is a plus.
• Strong international knowledge and interest; additional languages and overseas experience is a plus
• Highly proficient in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Tableau experience is a plus.
• Must be proactive, motivated, highly-organized and a self-starter
• Team player with ability to work independently and with multiple projects
• Strong knowledge and experience with digital content and new media platforms a plu s
