Job Description:
Our Transformation and Resiliency Solutions group is growing, and we are currently seeking an experienced Disaster Recovery Consultant, to work on an on-call basis with our Federal, State and local clients across the country. In this role you will provide real-world expertise and experience to our clients to support the development and implementation of disaster recovery policy, planning, and strategy. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to interface with senior and elected officials, and able to quickly adapt to meet ambitious timelines and changing requirements. We have an immediate need in the New York City commutable area and future requirements nationwide. As an On-Call Disaster Recovery Consultant you may be required to deploy for extensive periods of time, depending on the nature of the support.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
• Supports one or more components of disaster recovery projects to include housing and community recovery, program management (e.g., quality control, finance/budget, records management), and environmental and historic preservation reviews
• Works as part of a team providing expert advisory and policy services
• Helps refine program procedures and processes for implementation
• Provides project reporting, including staffing and financial status, project performance and risk analysis and mitigation
• Works with clients on a daily basis to strategize and execute project tasks
• Manages staff and subcontractors
• Provides review and oversight of project deliverables
• Facilitates workshops and meetings as appropriate
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• 5+ years of experience supporting disaster recovery projects
• Demonstrated client management and relationship building experience
• Solid knowledge of how disaster recovery programs are implemented at the state level
Preferred Skills/Experience:
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Experience working with programs funded with HUD’s Community Development Block Grant program and/or FEMA disaster recovery funds (FEMA Public Assistance or FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant programs)
• Experience working in a consulting firm, development organization, or public agency preferred
Professional Skills/Experience
• Ability to manage staff and business process that require high level of productivity in short period of time
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment
