Job Description:
Responsibilities:
• Work with Circulation team to manage the development and implementation of promotion activities for consumer events
• Manage from start to finish the planning, promotion, and execution of each event
• Support the execution of The Journal’s consumer event calendar
• Research and pitch event ideas for the franchise
• Liaise with Marketing to develop materials to support brand visibility; event collateral and event sponsorship presence,
• Liaise with Editorial to ensure content of events and event experience are in line with Editorial’s goals
• Prepare and write event proposals
• Create and maintain project budgets
• Keep ahead of and on top of what the industry and the competitive set is doing
Skills:
• Excellent understanding of the events business; comfortable with a demanding, operations-heavy, hands-on role
• Sound business judgment and the ability to work closely with internal departments, clients and external vendors to coordinate the logistics of each event
• Proven history of delivering superior results through revenue growth and operating efficiency
• Strong implementation and organizational skills and the ability to ensure successful, high caliber events that satisfy external and internal sponsors and attendees
• Knowledge of relationship management, project management and resource concepts and methodologies
• Superior time management skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment, meeting multiple tight deadlines
• Creative, innovative person who enjoys working in a collaborative, results-oriented environment
• Self-starter that can work on their own
• Good understanding of audience, people management experience, problem-solving orientation
• Passion for the profession
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of event industry experience
• Ability to be flexible, work extra hours as needed and travel within United States and internationally
• Experiencing managing heavy event schedules
• Strong copy writing skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Knowledge of event design and promotion processes
