KFSM/KXNW is looking for a unique storyteller to join the number one news team news team in in Fayetteville , Arkansas . We value solid newsroom & digital technology experience, but sell us on your passion to re-invent the news with clever copy, an exceptional photojournalistic eye, and the ability to tell our viewers a story.

Candidate must have Final Cut Pro experience and be able to shoot daily assignments for you and part of the time with other reporters. The position may require nights & weekends as needed.

Responsibilities:
• Submits ideas for stories.
• Develops network of news sources who are contacted on a regular basis.
• Writes a script that is fair, balanced and accurate and fully exploits the visual tools of the medium.
• Shoots and edits video for news stories.
• Meets deadlines.
• Keeps executive producer, producer and/or assignment desk updated on story.
• Does live-from-the-scene reports when assigned by management.
• Posts stories to website(s), Twitter, and Facebook
• Reads newspapers, magazines and websites and watches station’s daily newscasts.
• Represents the station in various projects designed to promote and enhance the station’s image in the community.
• Answers all mail and phone calls from viewers.
• Submits ideas for news series.
• Develops community contacts.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned by the News Director or VP/GM.
• Covers news stories assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Effective broadcast communicator.
• Effective writer.
• Good organizational skills.
• Must be able to accept constructive direction and criticism designed to enhance individual’s performance.
• Able to appear live in a broadcast to deliver reports in a professional and effective manner.
• Stays informed on current affairs.
• Can perform duties and make decisions under extreme pressure.
• In line with reportorial duties, individual will be required to frequently leave building to drive to locations in order to cover news stories.
• Maintain a good driving record.
• Usually 8 hour work days, five days a weeks; may be required to work additional hours or days, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be capable of interacting positively and productively with other employees.
