Responsibilities:
The Learning Technology Manager leads the Learning Technology team to create and foster engaging, high quality, technology-enhanced teaching and learning experiences. Responsible for course production by ensuring that course delivery is efficient, scalable, and high quality. Supervises technical support of course delivery by ensuring issues are met in a timely, professional manner and that existing technology portfolio is optimally utilized in our courses. Manages capacity and balances workload for the Learning Technology team, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately to meet the needs of a dynamic and changing business. Manages aspects of research and development, rapid prototyping and evaluation of tools and technologies for use in online courses. Will also manage special projects and oversee implementation of new tools and technologies for online course delivery.
Course Production
Directs the course production process for partner and fee-for-service clients. Ensures consistency in process, maintains standards for quality and efficiency, manages QA, and oversees 3rd party vendor.
Faculty Support
Manages the team providing end user support. Ensures that issues are resolved efficiently by staff, according to defined process and established SLAs.
Project and Operational Manager
Manage staffing assignments for schools, programs, partners, and projects. Oversee 3rd party vendor relationships and evaluate quality of vendor products and services. Establish, implement, and continually improve processes. Negotiate project plans and processes both internally and externally, diplomatically drive accountability where it belongs. Coordinate and assure quality and timeliness in Learning Technology services. Proactively and clearly communicate needs, status, and deadlines to all players and efficiently address or escalate issues.
Innovation
Identifies technologies or processes to improve learner experience in courses or the course production process
Technology Implementation
Leads implementation efforts to add new technologies to our portfolio.
Team Leadership
Motivate and inspire team to deliver high quality products, efficient, scalable processes, and innovative technologies for online learning. Support direct reports by helping them define development goals, identifying opportunities to reach those goals, then providing regular feedback and performance appraisals along the way. Manage workflow among team to ensure service quality, product quality, and efficiency. Meet with team regularly to offer guidance and keep them informed.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelors in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Computer Science/Information Systems, Cognitive Science, Engineering
• 5+ years’ experience in online learning for higher education or comparable (e.g. highly structured and robust corporate learning)
• 2+ years management experience
• Software evaluation & implementation, project management, staff management
• In-depth knowledge of learning theory and eLearning/Online Learning
• Demonstrated experience administering learning and content management systems, web content production and management experience, technical support management experience, synchronous communication systems, authoring tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite), HTML/CSS
• Time management, maintain focus under pressure, tolerance for ambiguity, life-long learner, adjust interpersonal style to achieve goals in a heterogeneous team
• Project management, entrepreneurial focus, trust-building, listening, flexibility, interpersonal awareness (high EQ/emotional intelligence), collaborative/fosters teamwork, empowers others, excellent communication
• Work at a computer or in meetings 40 hours per week;
• Physical presence in office min 80% of work week.
