MAJOR PURPOSE:
Oversee the B2B sales of MLB digital rights outside of the United States. Maximize revenue and grow the MLB brand worldwide through the sale and execution of partnerships for MLB digital properties, including: Subscription Products; Wireless Content; MLB Territory-Specific Websites; Digital Ad/Sponsorship Sales. Design the strategic planning and business operations of digital media as it pertains to MLB International business units. Report to Director, International Media Sales, but work closely with non-US office heads. Serve as primary liaison between MLB International and MLB Advanced Media.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create and execute digital sales plans – locally, regionally, globally – to serve the overall goals and objectives of MLB International
• Work closely with all international business leads (Media, Licensing, Sponsorship, World Baseball Classic and Events) and offices to design digital elements for all commercial deals
• Assess viability and sustainability of current digital deals in international markets; identify, evaluate and execute new business opportunities
• Monitor sports digital media consumption trends in key markets, developing a deep understanding of how MLB can best connect with people around the world
• Directly manage key digital clients and establish relationships with executives and decision makers for all current and potential MLB International partners
• Serve as primary digital media representative for MLB International, while working closely with MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM) on both deal creation and execution; possess a deep knowledge of all MLBAM digital products and services with international application
• Assist in organizing deal points/negotiating/framing contracts for digital portion of new deals and renewal agreements
• Perform related duties as required
REQUIREMENTS:
• 5+ Years in digital business development, preferably including experience with sports and entertainment entities
• Strong business relationships in consumer technology, preferably including key contacts outside the United States
• Mastery of technical production requirements for transmission of digital, consumer-facing media products
• Creative/entrepreneurial spirit; always seeking new business opportunities
• Ability to manage a flexible travel schedule and a challenging pace of revenue delivery
• Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
• Strong data skills, including mastery of basic financial analysis and common visualization software (Excel, PowerPoint/Keynote, Tableau)
• Knowledge of and passion for baseball
