The Digital Sales Specialist – Programmatic is a key role within the digital team and part of a team that develops winning strategies and tactics around the programmatic media buying for customers with a focus on achieving specific KPIs. The successful candidate will be steeped in a world of digital advertising technology, and will play an integral role in growing the business by executing performance-driven and brand-awareness media buys. Applicants for this job role should have an extraordinarily high understanding of the internet in general and programmatic media buying in particular, and be highly confident in their ability to execute and optimize digital media campaigns. To maximize revenue and market share growth from assigned local advertising clients through innovative marketing strategies taking advantage of the full Sun-Sentinel product line and its subsidiary products, while providing superior account management and customer service.
Responsibilities:
• To grow revenue and market share through new business development and from current assigned advertisers within South Florida, by providing creative and innovative solutions to selling challenges.
• To effectively negotiate and foster long-term partnerships between the Sun-Sentinel and local advertisers to assure revenue and market share growth are maximized.
• To maintain a full understanding of all aspects of a client’s business including but not limited to: strategies, media expenditures, corporate philosophy, selling cycles, target audience, media mix, merchandising, and key decision makers.
• Effectively use superior written, verbal and non-verbal communication and active listening skills to determine client needs and maximize all marketing/sales opportunities.
• To develop a strong rapport with principal decision makers, their advertising agencies or media departments.
• Keep current and observe all advertising policies and procedures, this includes but is not limited to rates, terms and conditions, mechanical specifications, days of publication, geographic coverage, deadlines, copy acceptability, credit and collections of all Sun-Sentinel products and subsidiary products to ensure accurate communication to advertising clients.
• To recommend, coordinate and execute sales and/or strategic marketing projects on a regular basis, including, but not limited to: package sales involving multiple Sun-Sentinel and/or Tribune products, cross-media packages, joint projects with consumer marketing, contests, event marketing sponsorships, vendor promotions & sales presentations
• To manage the preparation and execution of sales planning and presentations.
• To demonstrate a complete understanding of our marketing materials and possess the skills necessary to present professional, effective sales presentations at all levels of client and/or agency decision makers.
• To be accountable for control and accuracy of administrative procedures, including reports, policies and rates.
• To maintain and update all records related to accounts including but not limited to client contracts, 3-year spending histories, budgets, contract financial analyses, client contact information, and client profiles.
• To effectively utilize sales support staff in order to maximize selling opportunities in the field.
• Challenge the status quo in order to improve business operations and offer suggestions for improvement. Provide back up as needed for others within the local accounts group as assigned by manager
Qualifications:
• Typically requires an undergraduate degree in marketing, advertising or communications or equivalent related experience and /or 2-5 years related experience in the advertising or marketing industry.
• Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as a good understanding of the Internet as a resource.
• Must be customer focused and possess strong communication, presentation, negotiation, problem solving and listening skills.
• Must be able to plan and organize multiple projects, assign priorities, analyze situations and develop creative solutions.
• Good negotiation, presentation skills and/or working knowledge of media industry resource tools a plus.
• Requires a valid driver’s license and accessible transportation to visit clients and branch offices and may require some out-of-market travel.
