Interested in a career in scientific publishing? Wiley-VCH’s Life Sciences team is looking for an Assistant Editor (f/m) (Ref.-No. 35/2015) to work on the EMBO portfolio of journals (The EMBO Journal, EMBO reports, EMBO Molecular Medicine and Molecular Systems Biology). The Assistant Editor will be responsible for handling scientific manuscripts through the publication process, a process that involves data editing, the mark up and standardization of scientific terms, language checking, proof-reading, and communication with authors and scientific editors. In addition, the Assistant Editor will be involved in the implementation of new digital enhancements of the publishing process as required.
Previous publishing experience is not required as full training will be provided. Applicants must have a PhD in cell/molecular biology, an excellent command of English, and an interest in the accurate presentation of scientific data in the electronic age. Applicants must also possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication (written and spoken) and computer skills, and the ability to work under time pressure to meet deadlines. Applicants must be able to work in a team and independently, and should be enthusiastic about contributing to the development of these high-quality scientific journals, as well as having a broad interest in and knowledge of cell and molecular biology.
