A Lot About You
The Yahoo Search Analysis team is seeking a data scientist with project or product management experience possessing sound business judgment and deep analytical capabilities, and able to demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively. The candidate will possess strong organizational skills, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for achieving practical business impact leveraging big data and analytics. Skills in experimentation, problem definition, rigorous analysis, and recommendation development to senior management will also be critical. As part of the team, you will be responsible for driving systems and practices across Yahoo to accurately track and understand referral and revenue. You will play an important role in improving the success of the Search business on PC, mobile and Tablet.
Your Day
• Build models to gain insights on what drives product/business performance in terms of both revenue, as well as user satisfaction.
• Offer a strategic perspective, possess sound business judgment and deep analytical capabilities, and demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively.
• Present business trends, data issues and insights to senior leadership
• Leverage data and analytics to provide support to product ideation, design and implementation.
• Frame business problems into questions that can be answered through data analysis, and translate business needs into requirements that can be understood by technical teams.
• Determine appropriate experiments, data, and analyses as needed.
• Conduct data mining to understand user behavior.
• Monitor data quality and product innovations.
• Ensure that results are presented in ways that engineering and business colleagues can understand and act upon.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams.
• Lead large scale analysis projects across product teams
You Must Have
• BS, MS or PhD with a focus on economics, statistics, math, computer science or related quantitative discipline.
• 3-4+ years web experience in a Business Intelligence, Data/Project Management or Data Science.
• Solid analytical skills and business acumen, combined with the ability to formulate insights, present a compelling case for action, and deliver expert advice and recommendations
• Ability to tell compelling, data-driven stories based on large, complex datasets
• Strong oral, written, communication, and organizational skills are a must.
• Attention to detail with the ability to see the “big picture” and frame opportunities.
• Experience working on systems handling large volumes of data
• Self-driven, detail oriented, excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task and manage expectations
