Direct Marketing Division: Senior Strategist (Alternative Print) Role: Responsible for developing alternative print media plans, results analysis and account management Expectations:Ø Clear understanding of HMI Process, media terminology, systems and internal toolsØ Dedicated team player, with passion for developing and presenting new ideasØ Ability to present with confidence and accuracy to instill client trustØ Solutions-oriented; ability to problem solve based on clear understanding of business and internal processesØ Ability to effectively interact with other Horizon departments (i.e. Operations, Billing/Finance, Brand Groups)Ø Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships for development and negotiation of in-depth media plansØ Manage workload and client initiatives both up (Supervisor and AMD) and down (Planner & Assistant Planner)Ø Manage DR assistant planners and planners responsibilities and workloadØ Maintain and manage client relationshipsØ Keep Supervisor abreast of workflow, project status and deadlinesØ Manage to all timelines and meet deadlines for planning, reporting, billing, etc. Ø Develop creative alternative print media solutions/POVs for client reviewØ Ability to formulate alternative print media plans based on historical results and competitive and target analysisØ Support in a range of aspects of plan development:o Category research o Competitiveo Target developmento Analytics Planning:· Develop strong and effective alternative print media plans based on sound strategies, research, historical performance and client marketing direction.
• Responsible for day-to-day media plan development, maintenance and execution
• Maintain plan accuracy and supporting documents; ensure plans are up-to-date and all revisions clearly and concisely recorded· Manage the flow of client media-related issues based on changes in marketing direction, goals and budgets· Maintain strong knowledge of client category and competitive activity
• Responsible for developing and presenting strategic alternative print concepts and in-depth results analysis
• Explore alternative print media alternatives; develop thorough and creative media solution recommendations · Responsible for client POVs, budget maintenance, print media authorizations, and plan actualizations/reconciliations· Maintain a clear understanding of Horizon Tools and syndicated research
• Develop and maintain strong media vendor relationships
• Negotiate rates, positioning, value add, etc. with all vendors
• Manage to client billing timeframes; review all billing to ensure bills are in line with approved plans / SBMS
• Review all results to confirm Core data accurately reflects approved plans; resolve all data issues as needed
• Lead client status calls, results reporting and presentations
• Develop insights and recommendations from results reporting; provide all findings to client in clear, concise presentation to foster understanding of program/creative/plan performance and next steps
• Assist in new business projects
Team Development:
• Provide direction to assistant /planners to ensure they are learning and developing skills needed to grow within the company
• Foster good working relationship with Operations, Finance and Brand Teams
• Oversee and proof work of all subordinates
• Inform supervisor of workflow challenges
• Conduct reviews and help guide MAP development
• Set aggressive yet achievable goals for self and direct reports
• Ability to train assistants/planners in CORE, SBMS, AdViews & R/F systems, etc.
Qualifications:
Ø Minimum 3 years alternative print media planning and/or account management experienceØ College GraduateØ Proficient in Word, Excel (above average), PowerPointØ Ability to work in a fast paced environment Ø Strong negotiation and communication skillsØ Strong attention to detailØ Clear and concise presentation skillsØ Solutions oriented, with the ability to problem solve, multi-task, and manage/prioritize projectsØ Analytics background preferred
