Mediapost Independent Media Agency of the Year Horizon Media, Inc., headquartered in New York City, is the largest independent media services company in the world.
We are currently looking to hire a Senior Strategist in our Direct Marketing Department. You will be responsible for developing media plans, results analysis and account management.
• Clear understanding of HMI Process, media terminology systems and internal tools
• Dedicated team player, with passion for presenting new ideas
• Ability to effectively interact with other Horizon departments (i.e. Buying, Traffic, Systems, Brand Group)
• Keep Planning Supervisor abreast of workflow, project status and due dates
• Develop creative media solutions
• Ability to formulate media plans based on historical results and target analysis

• Be accurate to instill client confidence
• Manage DR assistant planner's and media planners responsibilities and workload
• Support in range of aspects of plan development;

• Review all billing in agreed time frame –ensure bills are inline with BVS / plans
• Resolves data issues as needed
Planning
• Responsible for day to day media plan development, maintenance and execution
• Develop and present sound, media plans based on client marketing direction
• Manage the flow of client media-related issues based on changes in marketing direction, goals and budgets
• Maintain strong knowledge of client category and competitive activity
• Maintain strong level of plan accuracy; ensure plans are clearly labeled, and revisions outlined
• Developing and presenting planning concepts and in-depth results analysis
• Responsible for client POV’s, budget maintenance, print media authorizations and plan actualizations
• Explore media alternatives and be creative in recommending media solutions
• Maintain an understanding of Horizon Tools and syndicated research
• Manage cost requests to Buying Groups
• Negotiate rates with print and shared mail vendors
• Maintain strong media vendor relationships
• Ability to train planners / assistants in CORE & R/F systems, e.g. IMS
• Assist in new business projects
• Oversees DRBA process
Team Development
• Provide direction to assistant media strategists to ensure they are learning and developing skills needed to move to strategist level.
• Foster good working relationship with Buying Team, Brand Team and traffic
• Oversee and proof work of all subordinates
• Inform supervisor of workflow challenges
• Conduct reviews and help guide MAP development
• Sets aggressive yet achievable performance goals for self and assistant strategist
Requirements:
• Minimum 2+ years media planning and/or account management experience
• Solutions oriented
• Proficient in Word, Excel, powerpoint
• College Grad
