Job Summary
We are looking for a valued member of our Business Intelligence team to drive our analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge. This position sits on the Horizon Next Analytics team. Horizon Next is the performance marketing division or Horizon Media, the nation’s largest independent media agency. Our department is data centric, meaning data drives all decisions we make on behalf of our clients. This makes optimizing reporting pipelines and creating insightful dashboards integral to our culture and workflow. It is vital that the dashboards have high availability and provide automated updates when new data becomes available.
In this role, you should have a background in data and business analysis, experience in the media industry is preferable. You should be analytical and an excellent communicator. If you also have a strong attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude, we’d like to meet you.
This position would work closely with both the data engineering team and the media analysts and data scientists to enhance our business intelligence system to help us streamline client reporting.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Understand and translate data and business rules to technical specifications to ensure data and information integrity when importing from source systems
• Design, build and deploy BI solutions by combining data streams into views ready to be leveraged for Tableau reporting
• Maintain and support data visualization platforms (e.g. Tableau Server)
• Proactively identify data/reporting quality issues and work with peers in the Analytics and Engineering teams and/or source systems to resolve them quickly
• Evaluate and improve existing BI processes
• Develop, optimize, and execute database queries and leveraged for analyses (AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery)
• Aid and advice on visualizations and reports for requested projects
• Develop and update technical documentation and quality assurance (QA) processe
Supervisory Responsibilities
As the Analytics practice develops there will be an opportunity to build out and lead a team.
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Scientist/Engineer with specialization in designing enterprise solutions with visualizations and data-discovery tools
• Experience in the marketing industry or marketing platforms (DCM, DoubleClick, Google Analytics, Adobe Omniture) is preferred
• Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining
• In-depth understanding of database management systems and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
• Deep Knowledge of SQL queries, query optimization, and best practices, preferably with AWS Redshift
• Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative
• Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
• Strong attention to detail to drive Quality Assurance and data integrity
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
• 1 years - Designing data visualization tools
• 1 years - Designing and building analytics tools in Tableau or a similar data visualization tool
• 2+ years - Writing and optimization SQL
• 2 years - Requirements analysis and documentation
• 2+ years - Data validation, analysis, and debugging
