I. Job Summary
| Major goals and objectives.
WNEM, a Meredith Corporation TV station in Saginaw, MI, is seeking a creative and passionate Lifestyle/Special Projects producer. This position is part producer, as well as a short and long-term content planner and broadcast/digital writer. This person will produce our weekday show at 9am, which incorporates both news and lifestyle content. This person will work closely with news management as well as sales in building specific segments. The producer will also spend part of his/ her day researching, developing and helping plan promotable content across different dayparts. This person will also collaborate with our digital team on online promotion and web content. The ideal candidate will display creativity, aggressiveness, attention to detail, resourcefulness and team spirit. In addition, the producer coordinates the efforts of anchors, reporters, editors and other staff toward crafting a compelling news show.

Previews news material before airing. Writes, edits and researches show elements. Coordinates with sales for specific interview segments. Coordinates breaking stories. Selects graphics and pre-production elements. Proofreads scripts. Coordinates breaking news and executes show in the control room. Contributes content to the web and multimedia efforts.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements| All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
Three years experience as a news producer.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to supervise, coach and motivate staff.
Ability to work under pressure, adapt to change, and meet deadlines.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Contribute story ideas for news stories, special promotable reports
Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Must have in-depth knowledge of current events.
Ability to write and post copy, photos and video online; provide content for multiple platforms and engage viewers through social media.
Must be a team player.
