Explore the possibilities as a Financial Analyst with Gannett Co, Inc., for our Finance Hub in Cincinnati OH. We are seeking someone with solid financial analysis knowledge and strong technical skills for our SMB (Small & Medium business) channel.
This position is responsible for successfully working with the SMB group,
including sales leaders, Directors, SMB Finance Director and VP of SMB
to complete tasks associated with analytic processes, commission processing, forecasting, performance metrics and tracking, sales analytics and ad hoc reporting along with forward thinking analysis around profitability, stability and viability for business channel success.
This position reports to the Analysis and Operations Supervisor and collaborates with leadership in the SMB channel and throughout Gannett.
In this role, you will:
• Develop relationships and provide direct support to the SMB channel
and various levels of management
• Development and implementation of standardized analytical tools and reporting as well as ad hoc reporting when
needed.
• Coordinates all analytical needs of the SMB channel
• Anticipates and resolves complex issues/needs for business unit.
• Performs complex financial planning and analysis, including forecasting, budgeting and ad hoc P&Ls
• Fulfills group/divisional requests for the SMB Finance Director and the channel.
• Standardizes, streamlines and offers solutions to manual or inefficient processes
• Provide and maintain excellent customer service to the SMB channel.
Required Competencies:
• Strong technical skills including Excel, Access, BPC/EPM, EDMS, Lawson.
(PowerPivot, MDX, VBA preferred but not necessary)
• Understanding of the General Ledger and Financial Statements
• Passion for results
• Customer/client orientation
• Strong communication at all levels both verbal and written
• Here’s what you need:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• Two + years of full-time work experience in financial analysis, general accounting,
cost accounting, economic analysis, systems analysis, or related area.
• Highly proficient in Excel spreadsheets and other computer applications/software to
provide fiscal analysis.
• Reasonable knowledge of budgetary management and accounting principles, and procedures.
• Strong decision-making ability
• Must be able to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, with the
ability to initiate improvements in budgetary operations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to be able prepare and present reports.
• Ability to perform standardized and statistical computations
• Big picture perspective and ability to manage vision but also the ability to perform the detailed assignments as needed
• Media or publishing media experience preferred
• Time management skills with the ability to follow up, plan accordingly and ensure
deadlines are met
