Product Manager, Instagram Explore

When people have some spare time and want to branch out from the things they already follow, they turn to Explore to browse content personalized to their interests to be entertained and inspired. We use machine learning to rank and personalize what people see on Explore. No two Explores are the same, and you can tell a lot about someone by looking at their Explore. Explore is like going to your favorite restaurant — you may not know what you want when you get there, but they'll be lots for you on the menu.
Hundreds of millions of people globally spend significant time in Explore every day, and Explore is becoming increasingly important to Instagram. People turn to Explore to go deeper on a topic of interest, see what's trending, or find something to laugh at. It's also now the place where many people are discovering our new products like IGTV and Shopping.
We're looking for a PM to join our NYC-based team and help define and build the future of Explore. You'll work across both the mobile product and ranking sides of the team to improve Explore end-to-end.
This role will require someone with prior experience working with teams to design consumer-facing products as well as building products using machine learning. You'll need to bring analytical rigor, qualitative problem solving, design thinking, and creative vision with the ability to evaluate problems from all of these angles. You need to be comfortable working in a rapidly evolving space and dealing with ambiguous problems.
You will be responsible for defining the strategy, translating that into concrete roadmaps and goals, and collaborating with your team to execute effectively. This role requires someone who is a strong collaborator across teams/orgs and a strong communicator who is comfortable presenting in front of company leadership.
Responsibilities
• Establish shared vision across the company for our approach to evolving Explore and build consensus on priorities
• Lead the ideation, development, and launch of new features that improve the Explore experience
• Drive product development with a team of world-class engineers, designers, data-scientists, and researchers
• Define and analyze metrics that inform how we measure the improvements we're delivering
• Collaborate with other teams across Instagram
Minimum Qualifications
• 6+ years product management experience developing consumer-oriented software products, technologies or platforms
• 2+ years experience working on machine learning, ranking, recommendations, or search products
Preferred Qualifications
• BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field
