About the Position:
The Director/Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement (CI) plays a crucial role in supporting the rapid growth of Salesforce by leading continuous improvement projects and coaching employees in their projects in order to drive productivity opportunities. Higher productivity in turn fuels our growth, innovation and Ohana.
This role reports to Salesforce's Enterprise Continuous Improvement Leader with a dotted line into the business functions. With a mandate from our co-CEO to scale Salesforce's continuous improvement capabilities, we are building on and expanding process innovation efforts that have been driven throughout the organization. The CI team focuses on driving productivity improvements across all functions (e.g. product, front- and back-office operations), and creates CI methodologies/standards, tools, training, coaching and measurement & reporting.
Success in this role means identifying, leading and delivering CI projects with significant tangible monetary impact, which supports continuous reinvestment in the Company. The objective for this role also includes coaching employees in their productivity improvement projects and preparing them for Green Belt certification. Deliverables include CI opportunity identification & prioritized recommendations, DMAIC/DMADV elements (e.g. charter, SIPOC, baseline, root cause analysis, solution recommendations, improvement plan, control chart, etc.), coaching plans & reporting.
The successful candidate will have strong Six Sigma delivery and coaching skills. The CI director/senior manager will need significant change management experience and be adaptable to collaborate/change/coach on CI projects tailored for Salesforce’s culture and environment. An ability to apply and adapt structured methodologies to Salesforce culture will be key to success.
Responsibilities:
• Identify and prioritize CI opportunities
• Lead and deliver CI projects and generate measurable business impact
• Coach Salesforce employee led CI projects
• Support CI training sessions
Skills/Experience:
• Significant prior experience with a CI /Six Sigma / performance improvement team
• Six Sigma or equivalent certification (minimum Black Belt)
• Delivered projects using Six Sigma methodology resulting in $3M to $5M+ project benefits per year
• 1+ years as Six Sigma coach for Black Belts and/or Green Belts
• Exceptional influencing and change management skills
• 5+ years of experience working in continuous improvement for large scale global companies
• Bachelor’s degree (required). Master’s degree in business administration (preferred)
• Self-starter and high degree of motivation to go above and beyond the task at hand
• Exceptional problem solving skills: demonstrated ability to develop solutions
• Strong communication skills
• Extensive work experience in process improvement and/or consulting is preferred
• Deep expertise in one ore more business functions, preferably in high-tech companies
