WeWork is seeking a Director of Video Content to lead our content production team and tell the visual story of the company’s business lines, corporate initiatives, and internal company programming.
This role will define the look and feel of WeWork’s digital editorial presence on the company’s owned and operated content channels and social media platforms. She will create a vision for and oversee the production of social-first and documentary-style videos, graphics, GIFs, illustrations, animations, and other forms of visual media, and will skillfully build and manage a team of content producers. She will also be responsible for producing filmed video for the live show at each of WeWork’s Creators Awards and package it for distribution before, during, and after each event on our content and social media channels, and will successfully allocate resources to drive the creative direction of the live Creator Awards show in concert with the production team. As a member of the Public Affairs team, this role will partner with teammates to produce social-first and documentary-style video stories about our members, initiatives like Veterans in Residence and Refugee Hiring Initiative, and other campaigns, and will collaborate with the internal communications team to produce videos for executive speaking engagements, company meetings, and other announcements.
The role requires setting priorities and key narratives for the visual content production team; strategizing with other teams and external partners; liaising regularly with executives; and ensuring that we have on-brand visual assets for our ongoing content calendar. The ideal candidate is comfortable being involved with every part of the creative process: generating ideas for a variety of formats and types of initiatives, overseeing shoots on set, and handling rounds of revisions with ease and a smile. She will expertly balance the demands and interests of multiple projects and partners, and maintain stellar relationships.
The right candidate will know what distinguishes a YouTube video from one that runs on Facebook or Instagram, and can use that knowledge to help the strongest stories reach the largest audience. She’ll also know when to deploy a video versus a graphic versus an illustration. This person will bring an entrepreneurial approach to the role as a natural networker and self-starter, and a high level of experience and comfort with managing and navigating personalities and team dynamics.
The role demands creativity, energy, dynamism, and a positive attitude combined with diligence and vigilance. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and relationship management skills; sound judgment; and a passion for the world of visual media.
