WeWork is seeking a proactive self-starter who enjoys working in a challenging and fast-paced environment to lead the team responsible for all global compensation accounting at our high growth company.
The Payroll Accounting Manager will work cross-functionality and globally with Payroll Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and Operations teams across WeWork. Communication skills, attention to detail, and an objective approach to learning and problem-solving is a must!
Key Responsibilities:
• Performing review and approval of payroll and payroll-related journal entries for all WeWork companies, domestic and international
• Overseeing the capitalization of WeWork’s internal and external costs towards leasehold improvements, software development and lease acquisitions
• Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of applicable ledger accounts by leading month-end close procedures and preparing financial statement items in a timely manner
• Performing and developing analytics on compensation expenses on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis for presentation to executive management
• Developing and managing a growing payroll accounting team
• Coordinating with corporate and regional payroll operations teams regularly for process improvements and maintenance of proper controls
• Being the subject matter expert for all payroll-related accounting matters
• Working on ad-hoc assignments as they arise
Required qualifications and skills:
• 6+ years of combined experience in public and private accounting
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting
• Experience with US GAAP required and IFRS a plus
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Office
• Extreme organization, ability to focus on work at hand and efficiency in completing various tasks with overlapping deadlines
• Strong leadership skills, ability to manage a team and report to management
• Excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written), as candidate must be able to work and communicate with individuals at all levels across the organization
Highly desired qualifications:
• CPA or CA
• Public Accounting (Big 4 a plus)
• Working knowledge of Workday
• Real estate or construction industry experience
