This is a rare opportunity to scale and sculpt our Product Design team during a period of rapid growth. This year, RGG achieved their highest revenue to date and continues to invest in the future through data science, platform upgrades and innovation in our product design.
We need an outstanding Director of Product Design who will take the Rue Gilt Groupe’s product experience to the next level through leadership, innovation and strategy. This person will work in our Boston office, lead a group of product designers, forge relationships with high-level stakeholders, and collaborate with our product management and engineer teams. You may also get your hands wet from time to time on priority UX design projects.
The Product Design director will lead UX vision for the company, prioritize and assign work to the product team, mentor team member in best practices, define how UX collaborates with stakeholders and ensure we’re using best-in-class technology for design, wireframing, prototyping and design handoff. The ideal candidate has experience scaling products to millions of users, understands how to use data to inform the design process, and has deep technical understanding of app/websites.
This role is perfect for you if you are passionate about developing and iterating on great customer experiences, appreciate working in collaborative environments, and have deep curiosity about fashion and flash-sale e-commerce.
Key Responsibilities
• Work with product managers, stakeholders and end-users to deeply understand the problems and opportunities for improving our customer-facing storefront
• Actively network to recruit top notch UX talent, mentor team members and build a team-culture of innovation and data-driven design thinking
• Ensure product designers working in agile development teams deliver solutions are effective, within scope and technically feasible
• Research consumer, industry, and product design trends and present a comprehensive UX design vision to the company
• Oversee UX research practice for the team and stay up-to-date on research methodologies
• Analyze data from A/B testing, Tableau dashboards, and other analytics platforms to make inform product design decisions
• Maintain UX JIRA board and assign tasks, holds team accountable for deadlines
Requirements
• 8+ years of product design, UX or related experience
• 5+ years of managing a UX team for apps/websites
• Outspoken advocate for innovation who can influence others
• Expert understanding of user research methodologies and frameworks
• Passion for recruiting and building team culture
• Experience with Pattern Libraries and component-based design
• Knowledge of Sketch, Invision, Zeplin and Rapid prototyping software
• Experience with conversion optimization testing or other iterative improvements
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, agile environment
