Senior Manager, Flight Analytics
Expedia’s Analytics and Revenue Management group, ARM, supports various organizations by analyzing business trends, deriving insights, and guiding management’s decision based on findings. We are looking for an elite analytics professional with strong growth mindset and success in translating insights into actions to lead our flight analytics team. As the Sr. Manager, Flight Analytics, you will be working on projects to build the best online air marketplace, serving as the analytics expert, surfacing the signals in our data and transforming them into actionable insights to stimulate business growth and help shape the future of what we build at Expedia.
You will enjoy working with rich data sets and applying advanced data science techniques to improve air business, and deliver an amazing customer experience. You are an exceptional and effective person who has a background in a quantitative or technical field, has experience working with large and complex data sets, and in data-driven decision-making. This person should excel in cross-functional teams and thrive in a dynamic organization, love the challenge of solving problems and always strive to do better, naturally curious and leave no stone unturned.
What You'll Do:
• You and your team will provide data driven recommendations to product leadership to formulate strategies to grow the business and drive long term customer value
• You will serve as a trusted business partner, working collaboratively with teams to optimize analysis and insights while maintaining regular communication to update partners on progress made on projects
• You will actively engage with multiple departments across the org, including Product, UX, Engineering and Business to take on problems and identify trends and opportunities.
• You are able to function independently with little to no supervision, proactively taking ownership of key analytical projects.
• You will make intelligent trade-offs between resources available and provide creative solutions to customers even in situations where all the desired data may or may not be available.
• You will be responsible for developing and communicating business requirements to the data management team in order to operationalize reporting and automate recurring analyses.
Who You Are:
• You are experienced in leading a team and mentoring analysts.
• You have at least 5 years of work experience doing quantitative analysis to solve business problems.
• You have advanced degrees in Statistics, Math, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering or another technical field.
• You are highly proficient in SQL or other programming languages
• You are familiar with A/B testing design and analysis.
• You are able to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner with partners
• You have a solid understanding of statistics (ex. Regressions, Time Series, Clustering, Factor Analysis)
• Experience with large data sets through Qubole, R or Python is strongly preferred
