The Amazon Music team is looking for a motivated, customer-obsessed, analytical Senior Marketing Manager to lead our growth in our emerging markets. This role will manage a team to drive the strategic planning and execution of marketing initiatives to drive customer growth in Canada, Australia, and Latin America. In partnership with the global and local marketing teams as well as local editorial, programming, and label relations teams, the Emerging Markets team will be responsible for bringing the best customer experiences and local content to customers in these fast-growing markets. This role will lead the team and be responsible for the top-line growth and key channel performance. The team lead will manage specialists in customer acquisition, engagement, and local marketing initiatives. From acquiring new Amazon Music customers, to managing the weekly flow of new releases and playlists, to launching new music features on Alexa, to scaling successful programs across multiple locales and languages – this role will touch all parts of Amazon Music.
The ideal candidate will be a world-class people manager, able to manage remote and local team members, create scalable and efficient processes for a lean team, and drive results through a combination of marketing automation and local relationships partnering across a matrixed organization. The role will be based in Seattle but part of a global marketing organization with teams in Sydney, Toronto, Mexico City, London, Paris, Munich, Tokyo, Bangalore, and beyond.
This role will be key to continuing our fast growth and will manage programs to deliver on our aggressive goals and quantify business results with data-driven analyses. You will coordinate with marketing managers that own the customer experience across multiple platforms, devices, and services and will need to be obsessed with details to be successful. You will need to be entrepreneurial and roll up your sleeves. Overall, you will be challenged to push boundaries, propose and execute new ideas, while maintaining a constant eye on process and efficiency to establish best practices for Amazon Music.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Manage all marketing activities through the owned and operated channels for the emerging markets
• Manage a team of direct and dotted-line reporting marketing managers across multiple locales
• Develop scalable processes for strategic planning, prioritization, and execution
• Develop country-specific goals for growth and key initiatives and inputs to meet goals
• Coordinate with global marketing teams focused on acquisition, engagement, partnerships and brand marketing to implement best-in-class customer experiences
Business Skills Needed:
• Exceptional project management skills, including an ability to take inputs from a variety of internal and external sources and maintain up-to-date documentation
• An ability to develop and continuously improve processes that save time and increase accuracy
• A tenacious self-starter who can serve as a strong advocate for our customer and our business
• Capable of handling multiple projects at once amidst rapidly-changing priorities and comfortable dealing with ambiguity
• Ability to be successful both as an individual contributor and in a team environment, and also will be able to perform at both strategic and tactical levels
• Ability to manage a wide range of responsibilities, thrive on solving challenging problems and not afraid to challenge the status quo
• Passion for music and technology and the confluence of the two
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of Excel and demonstrated experience using data and metrics to measure performance and determine improvements
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot inefficient, unreliable processes
• Ability to deliver on multiple deadlines and prioritize compulsively as a self-directed individual, comfortable with a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
• Comfortable with a varied set of software tools and ability to learn new tools quickly
• 7+ years of relevant work experience in online marketing, marketing communications, product management, and/or consumer products and services
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Demonstrated creativity and judgment to develop solutions
• Knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write or edit queries in order to mine the data needed to measure results and inform decisions
• Intuition for customer communication voice; adept at marketing copywriting
• Experience working in the music industry including a knowledge of current trends and history in music, the music industry, and digital music
• MBA degree
