Job Description
Leading a team of UX designers, your primary responsibility will be to invent and consider the value of highly engaging and informative interactions that present complex concepts in accessible, jargon-free, and compelling manner to new and existing customers. As hands-on leader, you will be comfortable shifting between strategic discussions and polishing designs. The perfect person for this role is a collaborative, curious, business-savvy UX & Design leader who derives satisfaction from delivering customer value in a dynamic, fast-moving field like consumer genomics.
Responsibilities
• Form a clear and insightful understanding of our customers' needs
• Identify UX opportunities and challenges that exist
• Attract, recruit, retain, and develop UX & Design talent
• Create an environment that fosters high quality output, and team collaboration
• Facilitate strategy and ideation sessions to bring together the perspectives of all practice groups while keeping the needs of the customer at the center
• High level sketching and collaborative concepting
• Work cross functionally to help identify requirements to shape and prioritize feature sets
• Design and validate user interfaces and experiences for websites and apps initially, as well as voice-first experiences and AR/VR over time
• Facilitate usability studies, field studies and contextual inquiry, expert evaluations, brainstorming sessions, and other UX & Design methodologies

• Great communication skills - able to present work and findings to internal and external stakeholders, as well as vendors

• Ability to execute independently and make strong recommendations when necessary
• Strategic thinking coupled with caring attention to detail
• Balanced decision-making grounded on critical thinking, logic, analytical skills, and ethics
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage ambiguity in an ever-changing landscape
• Ability to see other points of view and diplomatically hash out how to move forward
Required
• 10-plus years experience in UX & Design, with experience managing senior, mid-level and junior team members
• Demonstrated experience as people manager with the ability to attract, recruit, retain, and develop creative talent
• Expert knowledge of human-centered design principles and research methods
• Excellent knowledge of usability, accessibility and industry standards
• Solid communication skills; ability to listen, present, and sell through ideas both internally and directly to executive level client stakeholders
• Candidate must be open to travel as needed
Desired
• Life Sciences, Genomics and/or Healthcare experience a plus
• Working understanding of interactive front-end technologies, responsive web design, and browser/platform constraints
