The right candidate will have
• A proven track record of success in product managing and delivering software solutions targeting developers or other deeply technical personae
• Deep experience creating visionary product strategies while balancing technical realities
• Management experience, including growing and mentoring a global team with end-to-end inbound and outbound product responsibilities
• Skills to effectively communicate product strategy to all of the relevant stakeholders
• Systems thinking habits
• Excellent writing skills
• Solid technical skills — while not expected to write production code, you should be comfortable diving into new code, exploring APIs, dealing with support escalations, reviewing pull requests, and speaking authoritatively on any of the technical aspects of the tools in your portfolio
• Decisiveness and accountability
• Experience with developer and/or analytical tooling a plus
Position Expectations
• Explore the problem space, interact with the customers, formulate the vision and maintain the roadmap, keeping it aligned with the company’s strategic priorities
• Help define and implement the strategic direction for MongoDB Enterprise Tools
• Deeply understand all aspects of the business — your job is to ensure a business outcome, not just product definition!
• Lead key product management processes, prioritize work across teams, and rebalance priorities to respond to changes
• Mine data to make smarter product and go-to-market decisions
• Work cross functionally with core database and cloud engineering teams to achieve seamless and well-integrated solutions that delight users
• Inspire and challenge the team to achieve more than they think is possible in the long run, ensuring that goals are ambitious yet achievable
• Grow team members’ competencies; provide ongoing and actionable feedback, coaching, and mentorship that helps their directs improve their performance
• Help create and maintain a work environment that promotes teamwork, intellectual honesty, ownership, mutual respect, the power of differences, and employee satisfaction
• Advocate for our customers with passion about operational performance, predictability, and security
Success Measures
• In three months, you will have onboarded on the current MongoDB technologies & tools, reviewed existing roadmaps, caught up on where the teams are executing; you will have met with your team of directs, key functions and other stakeholders, and identified any immediate opportunities for improvement
• In six months, you will have led the team to ship several releases, took over customer feedback channels, and made sure existing processes allow acting on it efficiently
• In twelve months, you have produced several GA releases, delighted customers with new/improved experiences (you’ll need to define your metrics to measure customer success with your deliverables as well), identified new opportunities & refined your roadmap, contributed to other projects, presented to customers, user groups, and conferences, and gained strong support of your team of direct reports and other stakeholders
