About the Role
The primary responsibilities for the Director of Tax Accounting position includes the review of the quarterly federal and state income tax provisions, effective tax rate reconciliations, and tax footnotes and related disclosures for purposes of the Form 10-Q and Form 10-K filings. This position also entails extensive monthly/quarterly/annual reporting of various tax analytics to senior management. This position will directly manage a Manager and a Senior Tax Analyst.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Income Tax Provisions – Review the monthly/quarterly/annual federal, state and foreign tax provisions for the Company and its subsidiaries ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Annual Effective Tax Rate – Review the annual effective tax rate calculation for interim period reporting
• Management Reporting – Review extensive monthly/quarterly/annual tax analytics to assist senior management in preparing for investor earnings calls.
• Tax General Ledger Reconciliations – Review ending DTA/DTL balances, tax payables including intercompany tax payables/receivables and reconcile to the general ledger
• Regulatory Reporting – Review deliverables necessary for the Basel III regulatory capital and reporting requirements
• Tax Footnotes and Disclosures – Review the quarterly/annual tax footnotes and disclosures.
• Special Projects – Including but not limited to intercompany tax allocations, cash tax settlements, taxable income projections and modeling scenarios.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
• At least 10 years of experience with a corporate tax department or equivalent experience with a CPA firm.
• B.S degree in Accounting or equivalent courses required.
• M.S. Tax degree and/or CPA certification highly desirable.
PREFERRED:
• Solid accounting based background with extensive FAS 109 tax experience.
• Proficient with the use of Excel for creating and automating reports.
• Familiarity with ASC 740 Tax Provision software required
• Ability to analyze data for effective problem resolution.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written reports and with other teams
• Ability to delegate tasks effectively and manage a team
