About the Role
The Manager, Global Policy (New Markets) is the People function’s project manager and primary point of contact overseeing the coordination and execution of expansion into new markets around the world. This role serves as a Center of Excellence that aligns the People Team’s efforts with WeWork’s cross-functional global expansion teams. This position reports to the Director of Global Policy.
Responsibilities
The Manager, Global Policy (New Markets) will implement and manage the new market planning and execution processes, coordinating across all People functions into one cohesive playbook for new market entry. Key stakeholders will include People Operations, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Total Rewards and People Strategy, along with representatives in the local market (regional function heads, consultants etc.) and in other functions (Finance, Systems, Corporate Technology etc.). This role embodies collaborative stakeholder management to set objectives, align expectations, resolve conflicts and make progress at pace on new market entry.
Core Duties
Planning
• Implements and oversees the People Team’s new market entry strategy in collaboration with People Strategy and Global Expansion teams
• Drives project scope, resources, information/data requests, function interconnectivity; creates and coordinates milestones and final deliverables, and assists with presentation of results
• Evaluates and integrates new market data from other teams (market research, due diligence, forecasting, etc) into new market People planning
• Establishes clear guidelines for determining new market process exceptions and customizations (regulatory or cultural)
• Develops new market best practice standards based on established strategic objectives, proven processes and applicable regulations
• Develops and manages reporting processes and metrics to measure project success and alignment with overall business strategy and company culture.
Implementation
• Oversees the implementation of People Team’s new market activities in each new market
• Supports the broader global expansion efforts, including change management and organizational design.
• Engages regional leadership and key internal partners to ensure understanding, alignment and investment in new market strategy and goals
• Leads cross-functional project teams and workgroups to identify areas of opportunity and/or risk to close gaps, eliminate redundancies and maximize delivery impact of new market resources and support
Collaboration
• Represents the People Team to all new market strategy stakeholders and provides subject matter expertise on WeWork’s People functions
• Collaborates with empathy and agility across the organizational matrix to resolve conflict and align objectives
• Demonstrates strong collaborative leadership throughout the new market entry lifecycle across functions, regions and business lines
• Cultivates strong interpersonal relationships with all People functions on the local, regional and global level to maintain a deep understanding of each function’s scope of work as it relates to new markets
Experience
• 3-5+ years Experience in Project Management
• Graduate Degree in International Business or Strategy related field
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional ‘EQ’ and Conflict Resolution skills for collaborating across teams, geographic regions and cultures
Beneficial Experience:
Experience in New Market Entry, Global Expansion
Multilingual
Experience with international employment policy and regulatory environments
Experience with Google apps and programs
