WeWork is seeking an extremely talented, hands-on, member of our People Team (HR) who exemplifies teamwork and professionalism. This role is based in Washington, DC with moderate travel (30%) within the Mid-Atlantic Territory (DC, MD, VA, PA). The ideal candidate is an HR professional with broad 'generalist' experience who will thrive in a highly dynamic, high growth company, capable of delivering results in a very short period of time. The person in this role must be able to effectively engage and influence employees, managers, and leaders at all levels. The role is responsible for establishing and implementing existing and new HR initiatives and best practices and will assist the business in areas such as onboarding, employee relations, local compliance, training, change management, and employee engagement.
Who are you?
The Mid-Atlantic People Partner is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle Human Resources support to our Mid-Atlantic team. This role is for a true team player & coach passionate about developing & leading through others, while dually creating high-level strategic plans for the business and the role. This role is critical in executing our ad-hoc, quarterly, and annual people initiatives, providing great employee support and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement as we grow this department and increase our value to the business. This position will report into the Senior People Manager - East Territories, and will be part of a team that cares deeply for one another, works harmoniously together, lives our WeWork values, and desires to be the best in the world - all while ensuring we are having a ton of fun!
Responsibilities:
• o Be comfortable with a high volume workload and be unafraid to "roll up your sleeves” alongside your team and the business
◦ Serve as the official first point of contact for various HR questions and concerns, ensuring outstanding customer experience by delivering value-additive, best in class (HR) support
◦ Deliver on time, first-time quality business-critical People Team initiatives and projects
◦ Ensure compliance with local employment law, as well as WeWork policies and procedures
◦ Provide proactive coaching, and reactive solutions to directors, managers, and employees on people issues
◦ Manage employee relations across the region, including end to end investigations support
◦ Escalate and consult with legal counsel as appropriate
◦ Support local, East Region employee onboarding in conjunction with local Learning Specialist, while leveraging HQ support
◦ Ensure successful onboarding, and offboarding of all employees in the territory
◦ Ensure HRIS data integrity and accuracy of all other HR Systems
◦ Support and enable managers to navigate self-serve HR systems
◦ Adopt and adapt existing WeWork HR practices and policies, developing local approaches to manage an effective regional HR function and ensure alignment of HR related programs, processes, and projects with strategic business objectives
◦ Work directly with Leadership in all departments to support them in effective management of their people, performance, employee relations, hiring, and terminations
◦ Conduct talent reviews and quarterly succession planning with managers
◦ Partner with payroll to ensure 100% accuracy, 100% of the time, while answering any questions in a timely fashion
◦ Work with managers to identify pilot opportunities to test in territory, that will enhance local teams
◦ Successfully navigate a matrixed environment to establish and manage ongoing relationships with key stakeholders, both regionally and functionally
◦ Manage end to end the employee recognition program to engage, incentivize, and reward high performers
◦ Innovate on existing hiring techniques to grow interest, candidate pool, and employee base in territory
◦ Inform decision making through best in class data mining, utilizing raw metrics, dashboards etc…
◦ Digest and distill employee handbook to guide employees through questions and concerns
◦ Effectively partner with Centers of Expertise, Business Partners, Key Stakeholders, and Employee Base to build positive relationships, and successfully roll out People initiatives
◦ Integrate Centers of Expertise Initiatives with business need to provide a cohesive annual People Strategy that delivers value and results
◦ Exercise excellent judgment and decision-making skills 100% of the time
◦ Ensure discretion, objectivity, and confidentiality in all interactions
◦ Partner with regional People Team to share best practices, ensure consistency, and encourage innovation in the region
◦ Develop and maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure local compliance
Qualifications:
• o Bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resources or related field is required
◦ Minimum 5 years experience in generalist HR capacity -- Solid understanding of all of the disciplines within HR: Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, HR Systems, HR Operations, Employee Engagement, and Organizational Development
◦ Minimum 2 years experience as an HR Business Partner with demonstrated success in meeting exceptionally high standards in a high volume, fast-paced, hands-on environment
◦ Experience in a high-growth organization -- retail, hospitality-oriented or membership/subscription business is preferable,
◦ Understanding of the customer service/customer experience issues related to member-facing business.
◦ Experience supporting business preferred.
◦ Be an expert in industry best practices around functional areas of new trends and opportunities to constantly raise the bar on HR deliverable
Preferred Qualifications:
• o Proven ability to diagnose problems with strategic thinking skills, as well as drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative
◦ Experience partnering with business managers and leaders in a dynamic business setting
◦ Strong analytical capabilities and ability to influence managers/leaders with data-driven recommendations to improve performance, retention, and the employee experience
◦ Strong understanding and ability to be highly productive and influential in a matrixed management environment
◦ Excellent written and verbal communication; high-quality document and report preparation
◦ Experience building HR policies/programs from scratch
◦ Experience supporting multiple states
◦ Speaks English and Spanish fluently
