You will own and lead the product design vision and team for the next big leap forward for the GoDaddy business, Guided Products and Services. The GPS team—based in Austin—will provide Do-It-For-You and Do-It-With-You solutions—from websites to social to email and beyond—to small business owners who are strapped for time and expertise. By leveraging our teams of internal experts, as well as AI and machine learning, we will drive real business results through an industry-first suite of intuitive and integrated products and services, engineered specifically for small business owners.
In this high visibility position, you will set the product design vision, recruit and mentor the team, work closely with Product, Design, Engineering and Marketing leaders in the division and company and be highly accountable for both business and team outcomes.
This position is ideal for those who (1) thrive in highly collaborative environments, where the Product, Design, Product Marketing and Engineering disciplines work very closely together and (2) enjoy having input into high stakes roadmap and business decisions that have company-wide impact.
Responsibilities:
• Establish the Product Design culture for the Austin office
• Recruit the key individuals that will form the 7-10 member Product Design team (includes both designers and researchers)
• Provide mentorship and guidance to Product Design staff
• Manage individual and team development plans and goals
• Collaborate with leadership and senior staff on strategy and roadmap planning
• Work closely with other design leaders in the company to ensure consistency of culture, design principles, professional development standards and practices, etc.
• Maintain ultimate accountability for design execution across all owned projects and products
• Delegate work and responsibilities to appropriate design personnel in a timely, organized manner
Requirements:
• 15+ years professional experience working in UX/Design
• 5+ years experience at Product Design Team Lead, Senior Manager or Director levels
• Strong kinship with product managers and engineers; a product thinker and strategist at heart
• Master of design systems
• Deeply passionate about recruiting and mentoring Product Design teams
• Previous experience and success working with remote teams of collaborators and partners
• Strong understanding of user experience, usability and accessibility principles
• Ability to lead and conduct workshops around a variety of topics such as customer journey mapping, persona development, UX problem solving & strategy, etc.
• Work with front-end engineering group to implement designs and validate features as they are built to ensure they adhere to original design and UX principles
• Deep knowledge of user-centered design principles & design as communication
• Power to influence others and build consensus, while dealing well with ambiguity
• Team player, comfortable with rapid iteration process and working within a small fast paced team, adaptable and able to multi-task
• A deep appreciation and talent for simple solutions to complex problems
