WeWork is seeking an International Financial Reporting Senior Manager to support the International Financial Reporting team and global controllers covering statutory reporting requirements across over 40 different international jurisdictions. The candidate will report to the Director, International Financial Reporting at WeWork’s HQ in New York. This position is flexible and can be based in either New York or London depending on the locale of the candidate applying. The senior manager will lead multiple projects at once and partner with various operating groups and external service providers to ensure WeWork remains compliant with all global statutory financial reporting requirements in countries spanning Europe, Latin America and Asia. The International Financial Reporting team coordinates the issuance of more than 50 standalone statutory financial Statements for the UK alone, with more than 150 reports annually across other international jurisdictions. This position will play a critical role in supporting the issuance of these financial statements and in general international statutory compliance for a quickly expanding global organization.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee timely and accurate completion of statutory reporting requirements across a rapidly growing number of international entities and resolve project roadblocks as needed
• Support external service providers in compiling local GAAP financial statements and completing audits
• Monitor the implementation of new accounting standards under local GAAP / IFRS, generally in advance of US GAAP implementation
• Comprehend and relay details of technical accounting transactions to audit and compilation service providers and assess required disclosures
• Review and perform due diligence checks over statutory financial statements and coordinate executive, director, and public relations reviews
• Provide guidance to the international reporting teams and drive regionalization efforts
• Make critical decisions to ensure the overall success of projects, including being on time, on budget, and delivering an accurate and complete work product
• Summarize status of projects, potential issues, and estimated time to complete
• Implement reporting processes to align HQ and regional teams
• Collaborate with various internal groups, including accounting, tax, legal, treasury, finance and real estate
• Liaise with the M&A team to effect transition of statutory reporting responsibilities
• Approve statutory ledgers that track US GAAP vs. local GAAP/IFRS differences year over year
• Other international reporting projects as assigned
Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree; major in finance and/or accounting
• 7+ years of external audit, accounting, and/or financial reporting experience
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• IFRS and/or UK GAAP reporting experience preferred
• Experience working with multi-national companies and global markets
• High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing projects and priorities simultaneously
• Work independently with strong problem solving and analytical skills and have ability to recognize and recommend solutions
• Able to work comfortably under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Strong leadership skills, ability to communicate clearly and concisely with global internal and external contacts
• Experience working with internal process implementations
• Frequent international travel required
• Expertise in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of Workday is a plus
