About The Role
WeWork is seeking an enthusiastic Sr. Director for our Community team who loves the energy, excitement, and intensity of a hyper-growth environment. The ideal candidate is a performance-driver who exemplifies teamwork with constant focus on ticking results up a notch, and has had exposure to the evolving complexity of people, geography, operations, competitive landscapes and product mix. This role is based in Washington, DC and supports the growing Mid-Atlantic territory, which currently includes 3 markets comprised of 100+ team members. This role requires frequent travel within the territory (50%), inclusive of moderate regional/global travel (20%).
As a key part of the Regional leadership team, the Sr. Director will work closely with the GM to both optimize the territory and shape the future of the region. The Sr. Director will have initial responsibility for leadership of Community Directors within the territory, with balanced exposure to Strategy, Real Estate, Sales/Marketing, and Operations. The scope of responsibility will expand to include overall territory performance & strategy as territory footprint grows.
Key Responsibilities
• Mentor teams across the territory to reach Community goals and execute on all objectives
• Set the tone for the team, demand performance, and drive results while also growing the next generation of leaders
• Partner with Community Directors and HQ to manage vendor relationships
• Assist GM with the management & optimization of the P&L and Pro-forma (member growth, occupancy, revenue, and margins); continually look for creative solutions to enhance the P&L.
• Partner with the Real Estate Team in the selection of future market opportunities; co-approve all new locations with the GM and VP of Real Estate in the territory.
• Assist GM in oversight of programming and layouts of all new locations in concert with the Physical Product team, taking into account market demand dynamics and historical data.
• Partner with GM and Public Affairs teams to navigate local government challenges and challenges related to new building launches.
• Partner with GM & Member Experience team to pilot and execute initiatives and develop partnerships that increase member happiness and reduce churn.
• Partner with GM to work collaboratively with Sales and Marketing teams to ensure that strategies support the objectives of the territory.
• Partner with GM and Head of Ops to set territory goals and optimize KPI dashboards to monitor performance.
• Maintain WeWork brand standards in the territory.
Experience & Requirements
• Minimum 15+ years experience in hospitality, marketing, retail, startups, consulting or related experience with strong operational focus required
• Minimum 5 years management experience in high growth company with hyper-growth environment preferred
• Strong understanding of local culture and networks
• BS or equivalent in Business, Marketing, Hospitality or other related degree; MBA preferred
• Passion and understanding of entrepreneurial communities; Entrepreneurial experience is a plus
• P&L experience required
• Assertive with strong drive to develop teams; inspirational leader
• Experience managing organizations of 50+ people
• Experience managing sales and building high visibility brands
• Experience in real estate, facilities management or retail
• Proven experience with Business scaling
• Experience in planning strategic growth
• Thrive in a fast paced environment while maintaining excellent attention to detail
