About the Role
WeWork is seeking a Manager of Payroll Systems to execute payroll specific projects and to work with other teams to assess the payroll impact of new systems, processes, and policies. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the payroll process and a deep understanding of the Workday payroll system. This role will also be responsible for the Xactly system, so an understanding of compensation is required. The successful candidate will be responsible for being the Business Systems lead for payroll, executing to project plans, working on multiple projects simultaneously around payroll and compensation functionality, and partner with Business Systems and stakeholders to support the global strategy for HCM and Payroll. Additionally, the ideal candidate must thrive in dynamic environments, be able to manage and work to bring clarity through ambiguity and complexity, and support multiple projects simultaneously.
Business systems at WeWork is responsible for maintaining all HRIS (Workday) and Finance Technology (Workday) and many other ancillary systems used by the company. You will translate software and service requirements into technical specifications and partner with software and service vendors/engineers to develop logical technical processes that are in line with the global system architecture and goals.
Payroll:
• Understanding of the payroll process in Workday (US).
• Experience with global payroll requirements, calculations, and vendors.
• Understanding of payroll integrations in and out of the Workday system.
• Expertise with identifying the impacts to global payroll systems.
Compensation:
• Experience administering plans in Xactly Incent.
• Knowledge of compensation planning and policy practices.
• Understanding of how to translate policy documents into system configurations.
• Understanding of data integration into and out of Xactly Incent.
Primary Responsibilities
• Balance multiple projects and services at once and drive high velocity change.
• Represent Business Systems with key stakeholders in a variety of other teams.
• Keep Business Systems team members informed about payroll initiatives and projects.
• Partner with functional leads on the M&A team, Corp Tech, Finance, HR, and global teams to plan and execute tasks associated with payroll projects.
• Partner with business liaisons and technical teams to understand and define system integration goals and technical system integration requirements.
• Advocate for payroll projects and functionality to align with the strategic plan and goals.
• Sell ideas or visions through storytelling. Influence and advise stakeholders at all levels and positions in the company. Deliver thorough, appropriate and timely communications. Clearly communicate complex technical subjects to business and technology stakeholders.
• Create technical specifications and processes using structured analysis and data modeling techniques (e.g. process flow diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams).
• Able to use visual techniques, both in diagrams and informally on the whiteboard, that make it easier to understand and reason with difficult problems.
• Participate in or lead system and user acceptance testing efforts.
• Build standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines for business liaisons and software developers.
• Assist business liaisons to evaluate cost-benefit and ROI analyses.
• Understand system interdependencies and collaborate with project teams accordingly
• Develop detailed system requirements, test plans, and training materials.
• Strong at problem solving and able to design solutions that meet a range of sometimes conflicting requirements.
• Able to build strong personal relationships and trust.
• Able to facilitate disparate stakeholders and team members and drive consensus in meetings, workshops, and one to one interactions.
Job Requirements
• 5+ years of experience in functional payroll management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Engineering, or related field and/or 8+ years’ experience in payroll administration including 3+ years of global payroll experience.
• Organized, analytical, motivated, resourceful, flexible, and collaborative.
• 3+ years of compensation experience including plan design and/or compensation administration.
• Experience with Workday Payroll configuration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Workday configuration and troubleshooting with an emphasis on Time Tracking, Advanced Compensation and/or Absence.
• Experience with Xactly Incent system administration including building new plans and maintain data and calculations.
• Willingness to travel as needed, including internationally.
• Willingness to participate in meetings outside of core hours to support global payroll functions.
• Ability to collaborate with WeWork and acquired company business stakeholders; Corporate Technology tech support, training, systems engineering, infrastructure, information security, audiovisual, and project management teams; and vendors.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and changing business requirements.
• Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in work products.
• Ability to partner with software and service vendors / engineers to identify course of resolutions.
