The Director of Content Strategy oversees content strategy development as well as the creation and quality of deliverables (content inventories, audits, gap analyses, etc.) to deliver a best-in-class content strategy. The ideal candidate is an analytical, critical thinker with a long-term vision who can translate insights and opportunities into programs and tactics that get results. We are looking for a forward-thinking candidate who can understand changing markets, get inside the heads of our target customer, distill complex concepts and data, articulate compelling channel strategies, and engage our creative teams. This role will manage and mentor a team of content strategists, digital merchandisers, and copywriters.
Job Responsibilities
• Define and document a content strategy that demonstrates how content can be created, deployed, measured and refined to meet user needs and support the business
• Utilize data-driven insights, shifts in the market, and technology advancements to evolve the underlying content strategy, and communicate these changes to the team
• Develop standards and best practices for creation, management, maintenance, and governance of content, overseeing both editorial and technological processes in an agile environment while ensuring that all content that is published is properly edited and quality controlled
• Ensure that content quality is measured and evaluated on an ongoing basis and using research and data to ensure content effectiveness
• Establish and maintain a workflow for requesting, creating, publishing, evaluating, and retiring content
• Be an influential voice for best practices in content strategy, user experience, design, and technology
• Evangelize the benefits of a cross-channel content strategy and ensure content is utilized cross-functionally with other channels while maintaining favorable relationships
• Develop and maintain a robust content calendar outlining new content development as well as optimization of existing content
• Ensure that the following best practices are being met: conduct content audits to assess and evaluate content quality, conduct competitive analyses of content, and prepare gap analysis to identify new content to be developed
• Understand and manage to SEO standards
• Help drive the improvement of the content management system and related tools for ensuring productivity and efficiency
• Lead, mentor, and develop the talent of the content marketing team
• Meet specific annual KPI goals for content
• Perform other duties as required and assigned by manager and upper management.
• Follow legal policies as directed.
Job Requirements
• 7+ years of content development experience
• Proven ability to drive change and results through influential leadership skills
• Deep understanding of current and future digital trends across platforms
• Solid background in UX, SEO and SEM principles and methodologies
Strong background in ecommerce retail
• Effective verbal, writing, strategic thinking, conceptualization, presentation and facilitation skills
• A proven track record of successfully strategizing and executing digital programs that drive business growth
• Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
• Team player and positive attitude a must
• Detail-oriented and organized
• Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Familiarity with WordPress and Google Analytics
Skills
Education
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, or related field
Master's degree in designated field a plus

Physical Requirements:
This position requires you to sit, stand and perform general office functions. You may also be required to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.
