The Expedia Group People Technology team is responsible for designing, building and supporting scalable products and services that delight our employees and enable our global business and portfolio of brands. As Director of Engineering for People Technology, you will work closely with our People Product team and the broader HR team to set the technical direction for our products and ultimately build winning solutions for Expedia Group employees.
You will use data to devise a pragmatic technical strategy, find opportunities and lead the team to create scalable technology solutions. You are an authority on building and developing high performing, agile teams with a focus on continuous improvement.
As a seasoned leader, you have managed and led world-class teams and taken brave and innovative talent decisions to scale teams to business needs. You demonstrate excellent judgment and have the ability to generate ideas and solve problems independently. Although naturally strategic, you also have strong operational skills.
What you'll do:
• Develop the People Technology team through stellar hiring, coaching, and creating an environment that embraces diversity and continuous growth
• Create and foster a results-focused and highly engaged team that is flexible, data-driven and able execute well in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving organization.
• Actively oversee resource allocation to ensure delivery of people services and projects, creatively use engineering team resources and budget to accelerate achievement of goals
• Provide thought leadership and innovation regarding HR technology solutions and strategies
• Lead the architecture of large data stores and complex HR system integrations.
• Cultivate relationships with new and existing third-party vendors to augment delivery, including handling related vendor selection, contract negotiations and budget
• Work with People Product team & delivery partners to prioritize capabilities and product backlog in accordance with the vision, strategy, business values, dependencies and technical risk
Who you are:
• You have 10+ years of experience leading technology organizations to deliver large scale software and data solutions
• Your broad knowledge of software engineering practices includes design patterns, coding standards, code reviews, CI/CD build pipelines, testing, and service operations
• You have a deep understanding of design, development, and operation of software at scale
• You have a track record of using new technology in innovative ways to solve business problems
• You are able to build relationships and influence decisions at all levels including executive management
• You have the leadership experience, mentorship and technical expertise to successfully direct a high performing and engaged engineering team of FTEs, contractors and vendors
• You have a bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
