Overview
Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers.

Responsibilities
The Vice President of Medscape Editorial serves a critical role within the organization and provides leadership across three editorial sections: features, news and reference, including exclusive editorial destinations and Consult. In this role, the VP of Editorial ensures that the content published by all three teams is true to Medscape’s mission and values and builds upon Medscape’s leadership position in medical information worldwide. The VP will ensure coverage is prioritized across clinical specialties and published according to the standards of quality and timeliness Medscape readers have come to expect from us. The VP of Editorial must have proven medical journalism or publishing expertise combined with a deep knowledge of the medical field. He or she must possess exceptional operational and organizational skills, most notably the ability to balance competing priorities while meeting business goals. As the focal point for the editorial team, the Vice President must be able to uphold Medscape editorial policies and represent the needs of the editorial team, while working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external parties.
Reporting into the Senior Vice President of Editorial and Member Engagement, the Vice President role will backfill the VP Editorial Content & Strategy, previously held by Helen Moran. Responsibilities will be shifted to focus on editorial leadership (versus broader product and strategic goals) and will broaden the scope to include oversight of the Medscape news team. The Vice President will directly manage a team of 7 including the leads of news, features, reference disease information, drug information, and Medscape Consult, and other teams.
Job Description
The Vice President of Editorial will be responsible for the editorial planning and strategy for all Medscape News, Features, Reference, and Consult content and initiatives, including:
• Managing content programming across site areas and aligning to core business goals
• Ensuring deep staff expertise in targeted specialties
• Upholding Medscape editorial policies
• Partnering with member marketing on a robust and targeted outreach strategy
• Collaborating with product and technology on the most effective means for disseminating content and exploring innovative approaches
• Safeguarding and advancing Medscape’s position as the preferred resource for clinical information by healthcare professionals
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related field or equivalent years' relevant experience, clinical degree preferred (MD, DO, RN, NP, PA)
• 15+ years' experience in publishing, digital content or other similar editorial functions
• Demonstrated deep medical domain knowledge, with a medical print or online publication
• 10+ years' of vertical management experience, including experience managing medical faculty, contributors and in-house/field editorial employees
• 5+ years in creating and executing digital content strategy
• Based in New York City
